Hello, I have an 02 bonneville SE( No extras) with 107,000 miles on it and my question is when I start the vehicle I will hear the trunk vibrate with a whining noise for a couple of seconds and it quits until the vehicle is shut off and started again. it happens everytime. I believe it's the fuel pump, but lately during drives I will hear the initial vibration and whine and it will happen a couple more times during driving. I notice no negative effect when this is happening so I'm wondering is this infact the fuel pump and it coming on more then once is it going out?

This is bothering me please help. Thank you!

That's the compressor for your electronic load leveling, which uses a bladder in your rear shocks to keep the car level when you put weight in the back. All 00+ Bonnevilles have it.

What you hear is totally normal, and good.

It is happening excessively, id say you may have a leak somewhere in the ELC system.

How do the shocks look in the rear? Are they wet with oil?

Ok I just got under the car and the passanger side shock has about 1/4 of it wet with oil.

Ok If it's bad and needs replacement I'd probably change both, but have no idea how is it a hard job?

Sounds like the one is shot. It's not hard to replace them in the driveway, also want to replace the top shock mounts, they can start getting loose and clunking. I would go with Monroes in the rear for shocks and Moog for the mounts.

Others will chime in with their brand recommendations.

I'm on a tight budget and not looking to spend a bundle can you point in the right directions where to get them at a good price and what they are called as the part stores have man different types.

Thanks!

shop around.... Compare prices with Amazon, Rock Auto as well as local parts stores...

You will want the Monroe MA-822 for the shocks... Will come as a pair... I also agree with replacing the shock mounts...

And the replacement is pretty easy...

We do have a club discount for RockAuto.

Also Advance Auto has some good discounts. If you do a search in google they should pop up in some forums. They are called like "Big 10" "Big 20" "Big 30" etc. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/

If you search on this ^^^^ forum, they usually have them posted in a thread.
