I am replacing my factory wiper arms and I am having some trouble removing them. I am replacing them because they are rusted and bent. How do I remove the wiper arms?

I used a Lisle wiper arm remover/battery terminal remover.
Other people said just tapping, etc., would remove them. I didn't want to damage the pivot bearing area, so I bought the Lisle because the tips of the gripping fingers were thinner and would fit into the opening under the wiper arms.
The Cobalt wiper arm remover I have wouldn't fit under and grip the arm to break it loose from the bolt.

There is a small metal tab at the "base" of the wiper arm that has to be pulled to remove the tab from a slot in the drive shaft of the wiper. Then it is just to pull straight out.

Lift the wiper arm to allow the locking tab to release, then as Sonoma mentions it should lift right off.

Well I got then off but it required a pry bar to get them off. The driver side arm was destroyed. All the teeth in the mounting bore were stripped all to hell.
