What do you guys think this car is worth?

Always looking for a replacement for the '00 since it is getting up in miles.

This car is identical to mine but has only 126k miles.
Current owner is a mechanic and it has been his wife's car for 6 years / 50k miles.
http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/2917083533.html

Mechanically:
Drives fine
Owners says fuel gauge reads goofy sometimes
Felpro LIM gaskets 2 yr ago due to external leak.
New steering wheel position sensor.
New touring tires, recent rotors & pads.
All accessories worked except one seat heater (I did not find any of the common bugs or any water leaks).

Interior has a few cuts and driver seat side bolster is worn, (these items are are better in my car and would swap over).

Exterior - said it was hit light in rear when he bought it. Replaced bumper cover and it has some bondo in one quarter panel where it meets bumper.
Black trim all around door widows has a quick, rough sand, rattle can paint job.
Under cariage has very little rust and is a little better than the average car around here.

The worst problem is the whole car has a horrid paint job (orange peel, rough spots, and spots with no attempt to feather-in nicks in original paint). He said rather than just painting rear bumper & quarter he had the whole car painted.

Other than the cost of fixing the paint, all problems are minor to me - especially considering donor car.

He is asking KBB private party "very good" price.

Opinions or comments?

I would say around $2500-$3000.

Is this on ebay too? If so then it has a salvage title, which scares many away if you ever try to resell.

Its hard to tell how bad the paint job is from the few photos he posted.

There is currently a 2002 SSEi on ebay with 132,000 miles in PA for $5300 with a clean title.

I would think the one you're looking at is worth no more than $4,000, assuming underneath is solid, along with the gas door area.

All the mechanics I know well enough to know how they maintain their own cars, don't. They don't fix anything until it doesn't run any more or the wheels fall off on the freeway. - BC

I wouldn't give more than $4000 for that car. "Light collision" story sounds fishy to me, and it's gonna take some money/work to make a rough orange peely paint job look nice.

Sounded nice at first, but I think you should walk.

Good Catch! (same car)
I saw the car close to dusk and I planned to go over body thoroughly in daylight if I was serious.
The good thing about this kind of workmanship is that it can make it easy to tell what has been worked on (LOL).

One other odd thing I noticed was that the rear window had the small fold down antenna on the outside and my car does not have one.
My first assumption was that maybe they added this mid-year.
Anyone know when they started this?

Unless you were getting the car for like $2000, I'd walk.

Sounds like the beginning on a basket case.

You start picking at one thing and it all unravels for a big headache.

:withstupid: Unless it's ridiculously cheap, you can do better.
