If you have ever been inside of an elc pump, PLEASE help

So, I've disassembled the elc pump from my 02 Deville as there are some serious suspension upgrades coming its way. In fact, the shocks are already here but I'm not putting them on without a functional pump. Now, I have a semi working pump lined up in hopes of making one from two but that's next week and I'm focused on this pump ATM. I've got it torn down, motor looks good, nothing appears unoperational, piston isn't seized in its bore. However, there is white corosion dust throughout the compressor itself.
It would pop fuses when I put them in so I know the motor was trying to operate and the bcm code was something with exhaust solenoid circuit in the pump. My question is this to those who have disassembled elc pumps before: once youve gained access to the exhaust solenoid, HTH do you get it out? Should it just fall out? Btw, mine looks like a solid block of rust with to tires protruding through a rubber gromment on top. :banghead:

Edit* please excuse inaccurate or improper use of terminology

BTW, I have read willwren's (I believe) write up on elc pumps and sure enough it shows the solenoind out of the housing. I'm curious as to how it was removed. I'm of the opinion that mine is simply frozen to the housing...
Thanks for looking. :helpsmilie:
