Im just getting my car ready for the warmer months, and since i have no ac, i was wondering about a 20% tint on all widows exept the front. its supposed to keep most of the heat out so i thought itd be a good idea.

how much do you think i would need? like the length, and is a 20" wide sheet long enough for the back window? i dont have the car atm....

also, tail-light tint, the dupli-color night shades, anyone done that? pics?

my boneville is bronzemist gold, so i think with tinted lights and windows it would look pretty cool :D

I have a set of Xentec HID headlights for a 97-02 F-150, would these light work with stock boneville headlights? i had them from my old truck and never installed them. i was just thinking maybe headlight bulbs are universal?

Thanks guys,

Your F150 had a 9007 for a headlight. The Bonne has 9006 low beams and 9005 high beams. Your HID's won't work.

Tint is illegal in most northern states due to the winter weather. Check your state's laws. Another option is UV-reflective clear film. That will help keep the car cooler. Also, get a reflective windshield sunshade to use when the car is parked. That makes a HUGE difference in interior temperature on a sunny day. The car will be much cooler than without it. Use it every time you're parked.

Where are you? www.tintlaws.com will tell you your state's legislation regarding tint. Whether you choose to accept it or not is your choice.

Your F150's HID's won't fit, and headlights aren't universal. Lots of cars share bulbs, but it's not a given. HID's in a halogen housing are a bad idea anyways. There have already been a lot of threads on the forum. Use the search function and read what everyone has had to say.

i always search, maybe im just not typing in the correct phrases/keywords... #-o

i think here the tint is 35% for the driver/pass windows, any tint for rear, and 20% for back, NONE for front...

and tailight might be as long as you can see them in the day?

im in niagara falls, ON, :canada:

and thats what i was thinking, i want to upgrade my lights, the incandescent look makes the car look outta date, i think some new lights are in order, but idk which ones

There are a few bonnies with retrofits these days. Browse the appearance subforum and you'll see some.

HIR bulbs are a pretty common upgrade but won't make the car look any different, just brighter.

I had 5% tint on all of my windows and I don't think it kept my car any cooler in the summer, I also had tinted tail lights, generally as long as you can still see some red and see red from 50' in daylight then you should be alright.

Ontario is 35% on the front side windows, anything you want on the rear side and back window, and none on windshield. That said, there is nothing DEFINED about that 35%, it's just a rule of thumb. The vast majority of people get away with it, but it won't stop an officer from ticketing you if he can't see you through your window.

Ontario Highway Traffic Act, section 73(2):

Code: Select all

No person shall drive on a highway a motor vehicle on which the surface of the windshield or of any window to the direct left or right of the driver’s seat has been coated with any coloured spray or other coloured or reflective material that substantially obscures the interior of the motor vehicle when viewed from outside the motor vehicle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 73 (3).
As for the headlights... please have a look at this thread:
