So about a month ago, I came across these wheels in a nearby junkyard.

Well I decided to try a quick cleaning of the "burnt" wheel a few days ago. I wasn't TOO concerned it wouldn't clean up well, but I was still a LITTLE nervous about it, as the soot or whatever looked baked on pretty good. For starters, here is the car the wheels came off of.




Here's a close up of the wheel I didn't take.





And here is what I had to start with on the "good" front wheel. I had already started cleaning some of the not so bad spokes, so ignore the shininess. I snapped some pics real quick before attacking the not so good parts.









And this is what the wheel looks like after a good once over with a wad of some Nevr Dull. Even cleaned, they're certainly not perfect, but I'm pleased with my $30 purchase.










So yeah. Never Dull is the best readily available wheel cleaning stuff I've ever used. Have experimented with several others over the years, but have stuck to Nevr Dull for at least a good 8 years or so now. For reference, here's what you're looking for.

Polished up a set of pontoons once with that stuff... took forever but they looked brand new... that stuff is pretty awesome...

I have tried it before, even have a can at home... been sitting there for years, I never use it. It is great for polishing up bare metal, but for chrome and painted or clear coated wheels it just doesn't do anything for me.

Works great on plastic lenses as well.

I use it for the hardware on all my horse equipment, works really awesome for that! Helps me remove light rust from my truck's rusty chrome-plated wheels a few times a year.

I don't think I've ever seen that stuff in my life until you posted it... I stumbled across some at K-Mart today, so I bought a can for $5 and am gonna give it a try.

You can also try Flitz...also packaged as FZ. Works great too.
Works good on clear plastic and other metals.

How does this compare to mother's aluminum polish? I may give this stuff a try next time. I use a whole (small) can of mother's on the semi every time i wash it.

edit: now i'm tempted to try that on my nickel plated euphonium

Worked good on my silver necklace Trent. Should work good on the Euphonium.

That just reminds me that the back rims on the semi need some serious TLC...

Ah, memories of Nevr Dull. I haven't used it in about 15 years, but I remember just what it smelled like, felt like, and how it would leave a residue on your hands when you were done. I was on two different US Navy ships, and we would use it to polish up all the brass plaques and other fittings on the main deck - every morning. On the fo'c'stle (or "forecastle" if you're not of the sea), were the two main anchor chain capstans, and they were pretty big. They each had a solid brass insignia covering the entire top of them. We had to polish those every morning too, and sometimes the salty sea air, or water coming over the bow, would really do a number on them. No matter...they had to be completely shiny....and they were....thanks to Nevr Dull!

The first thing I thought of was boot camp and Brasso.
