I mentioned this i another guys topic, but its getting annoying... last 2 months ago i had some wetness in my back seal on the passenger side floor... now its to the point of 1" of water, slush cause its soo cold, i pulled up a bit of the soggy carpet and began inspecting and shammied out most of the water (im at 1/4 a bucket of water atm) i checked the door/window seals, there all sealing fine, i checked the rear window, its fine, i basically checked everywhere where the water would have to come DOWN...

so i started checking where it could come UP, i went under the car and inspected the floorpans, there all solid with minimal rust spots, why is soo much water pooling in and never coming out? its starting to wick through my carpets, so where i put my feet to drive is damp, when i hit the breaks the passengers feet gets sloshed with water and my fuses/battery box under the seat is getting all corroded for the moisture!!!

i have the car apart atm, i need it back together for work tm, even my trunk is a bit damp if that helps, but im mainly concerned about the 1" of freexing cold water in my back seat floor...

any ideas? im installing an amp for my speakers and re-installing my sub soon... but i would like to get this water deal sorted out before anything, thanks guys

BTW this could be the worst case you guys have ever seen, this all happened all of the sudden in 3 months time

Have you checked the full seal on the trunk lid? Im not sure but I think there is a slight angle down towards the backseats. If snow is melting through the seal of the trunk that may be where it is coming from.

Other than that I can't think of where it would be coming from but if I think of something I will let you know.

Well if you need the car for work tomorrow, don't even bother looking into it tonight.

Checking for water leaks is a LONG and TEDIOUS process.

If its as bad as you say, I would strip out the interior: seats, carpet, panels, etc... and have someone run water all over the car. You WILL find the leak.

When you say door seals, did you include the inner door water guards?

By inner door water guards do you mean the black vapor sheild behind the door panels? Because i just checked that, its all sealed and no signs of moisture. Im even looking all over my car for signs of a leak, like water runs or going from wettest to least, where ita the most wet looks fine, this is truly one mysterious leak

Estimated Cost: Minimal cost of supplies, mostly labor. You could spend hours looking for the leak.

Personally, I would do what Andrew suggested, and gut the interior. It might end up saving time.

I dont have a sunroof, so were good there, i looked over all the door water leaks, so were ok there (for now),

im looking more at the trunk lid leak now.... i pulled my trunk mat and it was damp underneath, i just replaced the taillights last year with new seals and all because my sister borrowed the car and backed into a flatbed and smashed them... thank god the paint was ok and it just lined up with the lights!

you guys will be happy to know, from 6 to 11 tonight, armed with a shammy and bucket, from my carpet i drained out 6L of water :D (1.5 gallons)

and used a space heater inside the car, my garage heater was full blast to dry out the air best i could, now theres no water (for now) just a little dampness... im going to constantly check but at the first sight of water i will be able to find the source hopefully, untill then i would like to get some rain to find this out faster, lol

You're not going to be able to find the source of the leak with the interior in the car. You could just gut your interior out and reinstall the seats so that you can keep driving the car. I bet you still have standing water under the carpet. Any amount of water is not doing any good to the steel floor, or the wiring under the carpet (which 2k's have plenty of).

I drove my car around for a while without an interior (noisy yes, but still drivable). It gave me a chance to find all of the leaks and to make sure that I had fixed them ALL. Otherwise it can be a crap shoot and a guessing game that will leave you very frustrated.

i agree, also. There will still be a lot of water trapped in the backing of the carpeting. I drove mine around without carpeting for a while, and did a friend of mine while I worked on the leaks.

After doing it a few times with my friends car (once for disconnected drain hose, once for a plugged drain, and twice because the windows were left down during a rain storm) I found it easier to move the front seats to the back seat area to remove the front carpeting, and then all the way forward to remove the back piece. It makes it easier for one person to do the work, as the seats can be heavy and cumbersome to get in and out without damaging something.

Could to drain the water from the floor area, could you drill a small hole in the floor pan?

Then that's something else to fix, on top of having to try and find multiple leaks.

Pull the interior out and dry everything out, and then find ALL the leaks.

why drill when you can use a hammer and a concrete nail? It worked for me about 30 years ago lol
