Keeping the Bonne, Bought my Daughter a Passat

Although my original plan was to give my daughter the SLE, I decided not to part with it. I found a nice Passat that a friend of mine bought new in '04. Since my commute is 80 miles a day, I'll wait until retirement rolls around in 2 1/2 years and get my CTS coupe then.

I definitely would not complain about commuting 80 miles in a CTS coupe.
Nonetheless, great find assuming you will post pictures of the Passat.

Good to hear Mark!
I hope there's a -V behind that CTS.

Sounds like a good plan!!! With that commute, you gotta have more miles than my 106,500 on my 05 SLE!

The commute would ruin the CTS. The nose of the Bonneville is practically sand blasted from running up and down the interstate every day for the past three years. I had a Jasper tranny put in the SLE back in March, so it should be good until I start the next chapter. I'll post pictures of the Passat in the next week or so. It looks good for 136K. It needs a few small things, but I'll drive for a month or so to sort it out.

Right about the same. Bought it with 4 years ago now that I think about it with 37K. It's at 103K now, but still rides and runs great. Dropping $2500 for the tranny sucked, but it was money well spent. It's still the best daily driver I've owned in over 30 years. If they still made them, it would be a hard decision between a new one or a CTS coupe. My wife said why buy the sedan, there is rarely more than one passenger in my car. After driving a bunch of different cars, I really like the CTS. Thought about a CTS-V, but with a new driver now and my son driving in a few years, it doesn't make sense. I sold my Camaro SS when my daughter started hinting that she wanted it. With the mods, it was about 425 RWHP, not a good new driver's car... Gets scary when the kids start driving.

Keep the Bonne for the daily and have the -V for a toy.

I have truly loved mine over the past 22 months of ownership. People that ride with me always comment on the ride and comfort. I'm hoping my trans hangs in there for awhile. If/when it does go, no doubt I will be putting a new one in! I see myself owning mine for a long time!

Glad to hear you're keeping the Bonnie! I agree with whoever said to keep that as a DD even when you get the CTS. I also hope it's a V, the 3.6 is quick no doubt. But when there's an option for a V8, Yes please.
