Chevy or Pontiac key...

So this seems weird to me. I was given one key when I bought the car. It opens the doors, trunk and starts the car. What's weird to me is the key has the Chevy bowtie on it and I was told these keys have a chip in them. I went to get an extra key made and when I told him it was a Pontiac he gave me a really weird look. I couldn't get a new key because he said they were out of them. Is this normal or am I over thinking this??? :dontknow:

The logo is the only difference, the key blank and the chip inside are what matters. I have a set of keys to my Grandma's Lucerne, the key has a Chevy logo on it. :bhuh:

Get the PK3 blank on ebay, and have it cut at the hardware store. You can program the key yourself.

The only time you should be getting it cut at the $$$dealer$$$ is when you are missing all keys.

This was at a hardware store that charges $39 for the key. I'll definately check out the ebay prices also.

You might check at the dealer as well. The parts department at the local dealer only charged me $11 bucks for the key and to cut it by VIN.
