i changed plugs and wires on my 01 SSEi and put in new ACdelco iridiums with Taylor 8.2 wires and i lost fuel
economy on the highway, could the wires be the culprit or maybe the plugs?

are all your plugs gapped at .060 and are they the 41-101?
Are all the wires on tight?

If you don't normally use corn, that could very well be the difference.

You used Taylor wires? Be prepared to replace them in 6-8 mos.

:stupid: That was not a very good decision for wires. Why didn't you ask here for the best suggested replacements beforehand?

Did you unplug your battery also after the tuneup? Its a longshot, but sometimes after the PCM has gotten used to a certain timing for old plugs and wires, it might try to lean towards it. Don't give it the chance..unplug the car overnight...doesn't sound right you'd lose that much efficiency just from that.

Stock wires are fine or go to NAPA and get a set of Belden wires.

Or MSD, if you want the best, and something that will last. Use the Taylors till they go, you spent money on them, might as well use them.

no. wires will not give you more performance unless they were bad in the first place. Even then they will just be restoring lost power

But they look better, last longer and are better than the stock replacements. And for not much more money, as well
