Not completely sure when this started. I think it was right after I gutted the intake I had the cruise control go out on me, the traction control turned off and the service engine soon light came on. Took it to the dealer and long story short, it was throwing a lean condition code. They replaced the O2 sensor and the PCV, cleaned the injectors, checked the EOR and MAF, as well as checked for any vacuum leaks. Everything checked out, but it's still throwing the lean condition code. Dealer told me that code is turning the trac off light on, turning off the traction control.
Then, to make matters worse, I was driving to work last weekend and I noticed the supercharger wasn't kicking in when I was merging onto the highway. Popped the hood and this is what I found





The belt didn't break, found it just sitting on the bottom of the engine compartment. I tried removing the broken pulley last night, but it's on there pretty good, not to mention thats kind of a tight spot to try to fit a ratchet wrench. Any suggestions on where to go from here?? Any help is much appreciated.

As for the other issues, get the codes read at Auto Zone or any other parts store. It is usually free of charge. Report the codes back hee and reference the techinfo section for their meanings.

If there truely is a lean condition, start looking for vacuum leaks. Get a can of carbeurator cleaner and spray all the vacuum lines and around the SC and LIM with the motor idling. If the RPM's chage, that is where the leak is.

Okay, so this past weekend, I worked on it a bit with a buddy of mine who's good with the 3800s. First thing we did was of course replace that pulley. Sure is nice to hear that whine again. Then we replaced the valve cover gaskets on the front bank to fix what appeared to be a very slow leak. We'll hopefully end up replacing the gaskets on the rear bank soon. Another thing we did was replace most of the o-rings on the injectors. His shot-in-the-dark diagnosis was that the lean condition could have been caused by leakage around the injectors because he noticed some pooling around the base of the injectors. The reason I said most of the o-rings is because I didn't get enough of them so we'll see about replacing the rest of those soon too. He also suggested I replace the supercharger oil because we could smell it when we were working on the engine. So I'm finally getting some maintenance stuff done that I didn't have the knowledge to do by myself. But about that lean condition, that code is still being thrown. I wanna get the rest of the o-rings replaced and see where that puts us. If it's still there, I'm probably gonna do what myfirstbonnie suggested. Did you remove the MAF screen that's in the front of the throttle body?

I haven't, but I have cleaned it with MAF cleaner.

That code is usually caused by a vacuum leak but a faulty MAF sensor can also be the cause. I'd suggest getting a scan of the fuel trims & MAF sensor at idle & again at 2,000 rpm.

Another somewhat common vacuum leak point is the EGR pipe. It often breaks where it enters the LIM. Include spraying all along that pipe during your test for vacuum leak.

Have you replaced the LIM gaskets?

Could I get a picture of the EGR pipe and where it is on the engine? Not very mechanically inclined here (at least not yet )

Look between the the LIM and the head, if its aluminum they have been changed. if they are black, they are plastic and should be changed.

The third to the last photo shows the corrugated EGR pipe running from the EGR valve to the LIM.

And make sure the O2 harness is not touching a plug wire (#4 or #6). This has caused lean codes in the past.

Your cruise control intrigues me considering you also have a lean code. The cruise uses engine vacuum to actuate. The cruise also depends on the TPS.

Kinda reviving an old post here, but I didn't really want to to start a whole new topic. Okay, so I had the engine scanned again for codes and besides the lean condition ones, there are three others that I think were ABS codes. The codes are OBD II codes; B1283, B1294, and B1295. Anyone got any insight on what these codes might mean? Any input is much appreciated!
