Sunroof Questions

Hey guys, I have a '04 GXP with the sunroof option that I bought off of a private seller. So far, I absolutely love the car. My question is this, after taking a much closer look at the sunroof (got a little worried after reading about the leaking associated with Bonnevilles), I noticed that my sunroof may need to get resealed soon. Does anyone know how to do this? Do you have pictures? I feel like it should be a relatively easy thing to do, but just not sure how to tackle it.
Also, has anyone had issue with the bolts holding up the sunroof coming loose? I just had to tighten them because I noticed the glass was "sagging" a bit and it appears that they had to get tighten before. Is there a way to prevent this from becoming a constant thing?
Thanks for the help.

Gagger, why do you think it needs re-sealing? Is your rubber coming apart around the roof? I have an 05 and it doesn't sag and I've never had to tighten any bolts. Most leaks seem to come from drains being blocked. Any pics?

I originally noticed that one side of my sunroof was lower than the other when it was completely closed so I started to mess around with it to see if I could find out why. And when I pushed up on the sunroof (while closed) I noticed that one of the 4 large screws that connect the sunroof to the sliding mechanism had some give. I tightened them up and haven't had a problem since (knock on wood.) and both sides seem to be even when its shut now too. Also, when I took a closer look at the sunroof from the outside, I noticed a little gap in the rubber seal around the sunroof glass so i was just thinking that needed replacing. I'll try to get a pic of it up here soon.
Where are the drains for the sunroof located?
I was more or less just curious if this is a normal thing or not because the last thing I want is a leak in my new GXP...
Thanks again.

I had the same problem and found out the hard way. 2 weeks after I got the '05 GXP home with 32K on it, had to leave it outside for one night, rained cats and dogs. Ended up with a floor full of water. I thought I had left it open a little, but then noticed a pretty sizable dip on the driver's side, similar to what you mentioned. I took it back and they said it was a sun roof adjustment, dried it out and treated some anti fungal process. Was fine for awhile, but then I noticed it looked like the dip was back. I asked a certified Caddy mechanic (that I've sinced hooked up with for regular maintenance) about it. He said there should be a slight step, maybe a 1/16", down. I readjusted for the step and tightened the torx down pretty good. I've since make it a point to occasionally check for that step and that the screws are snug. Haven't had a problem (or any smell) since.
Regarding your drain question, here is the address to somewhere in this forum that I had bookmarked back then. See if it helps.

Thanks for the advice! Hey @Maxster, when you're talking about the 1/16" "step," is that the amount the sunroof glass is lower than the actual roof? It appears mine is at that point now that I tightened the bolts so I shouldn't need an adjustment, correct?
Thanks again.

My dad's GXP had been doing the same thing, removing the bolts one at a time and applying blue loc-tite has since solved it.

You can also use a low pressure air compressor to blow out the drain tubes in the 4 corners of the sunroof to make sure they is clear!! but you may wanna just open the sunroof and poor water in the channels and make sure it does drain in the each corners before blowing it out with alittle air pressure!!!

I will definitely give that a shot! Thanks @Bvill_GXP! How do I know they are draining properly and not into my car somewhere?

Yes, glass adjustment is very important. There are instructions in GM SPO (Service Information) on how to adjust it. Any technician at any GM dealer should be able to access it when looking under 2004 Bonneville (or really any 2000+ Bonneville) and looking up Sunroof glas replacement.
