ChicagoLand meet?

Ok, so Myself, Lucas (Wake) and Eric (yonkerse) have been kicking around the idea of a Chicago meet either at my place here in the south suburbs or by Lucas' in the west. Just wanted to put out feelers for who else would be interested. This would definitely be a weekend thing on either a saturday or sunday, We were thinking maybe the weekend of the 17/18th or the 1/2nd. Those are my personal weekends off, Yonkerse mentioned that his schedule would be something he would have to look into, which is why we're undecided for the date.
How does this sound to anyone else? If you can make it great! Hopefully we can have more of these down the road...
Events arent exactly planned yet, but I did have it in mind to POR-15 the underside of my 01, it would go VERY quickly with many hands
Anyway, I'm starting to ramble...Thoughts?

Hey guys,

Both of the weekends listed above sound great. I work every Saturday, (I will try getting this off) but if I can't, will be to Illinois by around 7:00 PM Illinois time.

I really want to POR15 the underside of my car as well....What POR-15 are you using and how many cans have you purchased? I want to pick this up as well, and I'm down to help with yours if you help with mine! :D haha

Will keep everyone posted, looking forward to a great weekend with the cars! Hope others can attend!

TTYL!

So far as I can tell right now, if school doesn't ruin this for me, I'm definitely up for the 18th!

Eric, I bought a Gallon of regular POR-15 when I did the Trans-Am and I still have about three quarts left, I'll sell you a quart when I'm done with mine Assuming I'll have one left...
Sounds like a good group so far!

Will,

Do you plan on sanding down any of the rusted areas, or just simply spraying it all down? Also, do you have a lift, or what method do you plan on using to apply it? I will plan on picking up some in the meantime incase we get a little carried away! HAHA!

It seems like a Sunday meet would be best for us...The 18th possibly? Let's get an official head count when we get closer so we can decide where to go, there's only so much room at the flip condo here...And my parent's house is not conducive to working on things

Eric, I have a set of ramps and a couple of jacks/stands, so that should be good.
As far as rust goes, on the 85 I cleaned it all up, mostly just removed the grease and stuff so the POR-15 would stick. Neither of my cars have much rust and the bonneville doesnt have much in the way of dirt on the underbody, so it'll be a quick cleanup before painting. POR-15 is brush on by the way, its too thick to spray lol. We need to make sure to be EXTREMELY careful with it, I almost DESTROYED the entire gallon by letting some leak into the lid seal, BAD IDEA, you would never get that can to open again. It's tough stuff...Oh, I'm also pretty sure I've still got some in my hair from when I did the T/A :btruestory:
As long as we're careful and cover up, we'll be fine though...

I asked my Grandma today and she seems to be ok with it, gunna talk more later, but we could have it at her house. Most of my tools are there and the rest are down the street, she has a long driveway and a two car garage. I think this is a winner but we'll see for sure soon and then we can decide.

Well, I'll probably pick Lucas up sometime in the morning, be back in my area about 9am-ish...that's just a guess... Assuming we have it at my grams.

I'd probably be there around 1 or so. By the way, I know you guys are gonna be busy with your rust proofing project thing, but you wanna maybe help me install a hockey puck mount? The one I have now is dying fast. Shifts can really get rough sometimes.

Sounds good to me, hockey puck mount is easy, mine only took like twenty minutes.. :btruestory:

yay for solid mounts, you will feel some vibration but it really helps, lets clear those headlights too!

Yeah! Vibration beats the slamming. As to clearing the headlights, I'm not so sure. I think light colored cars look better with orange up front. However, tail lights are for sure up for clearing. I hate the orange in the back.

We could always swap one of my headlights onto yours to see if you like them :poke:
They take all of 5 minutes to swap out...
As far as the rears go...
I'd only do them if i could have them for a few days...I don't want to rush things...
