Fuel gauge question

Well I went to the station and told em "fill er up." As the price reached $40 and the gauge reached full, I expected the tank to top off and the pump to stop. But the gauge went to full and the tank kept taking gas. It took over 5 gallons of gas after the gauge read full.

So I drove for a while, and kept an eye on the gallons of fuel used. I've used 7 gallons and the fuel gauge is still pegged at full. Any chance the gauge was broken or if filling it somehow got the needle stuck? If I sit still with the car running sometimes the gauge moves up and down about a quarter of a tank, but always goes back to full.

The fuel gauge issue you're describing is common, but a fairly simple and cheap fix if you're mechanically inclined. I had the same issue with mine. When you have time, browse the various forums, lots of good info in them.
