JK, it doesn't mean anything. In fact, none of the trim levels mean anything, except SLE which is "Sport Luxury Edition"

I believe this is correct also. As the old Grand Am SE's said Sport Edition under the SE symbol.

Yeah its a shame but they are simply trim level designations... SE, SLE( has a meaning, for whatever reason )... SSE, SSEi, GXP.... LOL

If SE means Sport Edition than SSE prolly means Super Sport Edition, than SSEi left the F silent like some vowels and means Super Sport Edition forced Induction lol

The "i" comes directly from BMW, which Pontiac was trying to go toe-to-toe with when it introduced the SSEi, and on the BMW it stood injected, and now that all BMW's are fuel injected, they all have an i, lol.

It was pontiac going for the longest single acronym in terms of a car trim.

Used to be SE, LE, etc on lots of cars. They had to do one better with SSE. It looks cool!

Then they couldn't stop, and had to do a lowercase i. If only they had done iSSE back in the day, they could have sued apple for trillions!
