OK, what is with all the SC gen numbers?
M62, M62 gen 3?
M90, gen V?
Etc. Etc.

Is there a chart that list the names of the SC's and which cars they are applicable to?

Is there a list of what performance gains a SC upgrade offers?

I ask because my SC is soooo quiet. I would love to hear it whine/scream like a Gen V car!(but I don't think that is possible :) )
A list and a sticky for the list would be cool or a tech info article on it would be cool to.

I saw this one, but it does not say what the applications are or if there can be upgrades to larger SC's, etc. I am just curious as to what is applicable to S1 and S2 cars.

Another note also would be if an Intercooler is required for the upgrade.

This was just for everyones general knowledge, I am happy with my SC.(but would love for it to be louder in the whining dept!)

Wanna hear the whine, gut the airbox, CAI or FWI. The airbox was made with baffles to make the whine quiet. Gutting the airbox removes the restrictions to the airflow and removes the quieting of the whine.

M62 Gen 1 never used on a Bonneville or any other GM vehicle. Twin rotors with three lobes each, but NO twist. No coating either.

M62 Gen 2 was used on 92/93 Bonnevilles (and 91-93 Buicks). Twin rotors with three lobes each, and a 60-degree helical twist, but no coating. 'small' inlet.

M62 Gen 3 was used on 94/95 GM vehicles. Same as the Gen2, but with a larger inlet (TB) and an epoxy coating on the rotors to decrease the gap between them for greater efficiency.

M90 Gen 3 is larger than the M62 listed above for 94/95. They produce the same factory boost because both SC's are rated for our 'range' of displacement. The M62 builds boost quicker off the line because it's got lighter rotating internals, but the M90 produces less heat because it builds the same boost at a lower RPM due to larger rotors. On the flip side, the M90 requires more hp to turn it than the M62 (it's a wash in the end essentially).

GenV M90 is even more efficient with a different inlet design and 'abradable' coating that 'wears' to a near-perfect seal. Still a 60 degree helical twist as the Gen2 and Gen3 though.

There is no 'OEM' replacement for your 94/95 Gen 3 that would be adaptable easily to your car.

If you want to hear whine, come to WCBF. Zilla is the whine king. I've spun my M62 at over 20,000 rpm's at WOT in the past. It's spooky.

A CAI or FWI will 'broadcast' the whine better. You'll ALWAYS hear an M62 before an M90 because they spin faster.

I just posted video of my car on a dyno. It is a M62 with a CAI. You can hear what the SC whine sounds like.

A quick info addition:

With all Eaton M### series superchargers the numbers are the cubic inch per revolution displacement.

ie. M62= 62ci/rev, M90= 90ci/rev
