My ELC compressor stopped working. The pump quite coming on. Is there a way to check to see if it still will run. Does any one know what fuses and relays are associated with it? I have a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville sle. Thanks

IIRC if you push the AIR button in the trunk the compressor should kick on.
Theres a fuse in the fuse box under the rear seat. Double check in your owners manual.

An SLE won't have it. Only SSEi's and GXP's got the button in the trunk. It would be right next to the latch.
Remove the backseat bottom and on the drivers' side there is a fuse block. The fuse/relay would be in there.

Just checked fuses and relays and all of them look good I tested the relay and it works fuse is not burnt out.

Since the pump is burnt out can I replace the back shocks with regular non air shocks? I might go this route if its cheaper. I appreciate all the feed back.

it's been suggested by myself and others that you'll miss the air ride. the other shocks won't be worth the money to swap them out.

Buy a used unit of eBay or the like. Andrew may even have one

A pressurized rear strut system is part of the manufacturers suspension equation. A lot of people may be riding around with no/broken air assist, but I believe ride quality will suffer.

All 00+ have ELC from what I can tell. They don't make a shock for non-air, and like said above it's part of your ride and handling package. Your car will ride worse and handle worse, plus you will lose load leveling.

OK looks like need to get the old pump out and put a new one in is this hard to do? Anyone have experience with this? I looked in the trunk and I think its on the right hand side but I don't see anyway to get to it.

I know it's accessed from the outside, and I think that it's behind the driver's splash shield in the wheel-well, but I could be wrong.

Right hand side between the wheel well and the bumper. On the SSEi it is right above the right hand side muffler.
