fuel economy
Just wondering... Would there be a noticable MPG increase by removing the SC belt and just Naturally Aspirated for awhile? Ive got a 2000 ssei. Thanks.

You'd lose a lot of fuel economy. The engine is meant to have additional air pushed into it at all times by the SC. Even when you're not boosting, the SC is still imparting air into the engine faster than natural aspiration alone. And, unless you removed the rotors, you're leaving a giant restriction in the intake path. So the engine works harder to draw air in without the SC, not easier.
The best fuel mileage mods for your SSEI are using the required premium gas, tuning it up if not done in the past 30-40k miles, and going easy on the loud pedal.

The best mileage your car can get will be with the supercharger belt ON, and running premium. Any drop in octane or running without the supercharger will cost you mileage and do long-term damage to the motor.

My grandpa had a 95 L67 (supercharged) Park Avenue and always got better mileage than my 93 L27 (naturally aspirated). Leave the belt on.

Atom, that idea isn't practical here. The price of LPG varies too greatly to make it a good investment.atom wrote:LPG my car.

I do not know as in the USA, in Europe LPG is always cheaper some gasoline on 50-60 %
And in general if you want to reduce the gasoline expense, it is necessary to facilitate as much as possible a car, to throw out or replace all heavy

There's zero LPG structure here aside from some car/truck fleets, usually owned by government agencies. And those vehicles always return there at the end of the day.

My current belts are Gates belts that are well over a year old with no issues, the Gatorback is highly recommended as well.
