I got a paperclip, and a diagram for the connector...but for whatever reason the diagram does not match the connector I have...

I included a picture below...this is the connector under the steering column. Not sure what pins to jump to get the engine light to tell me whats wrong...

Top, all they way to the right.

Crap, I just looked at the diagram, and realized I am an idiot and was looking at it wrong...

If I jumped the wrong pins, would it cause damage or would a fuse blow first...just wondering in case this connector I have is rigged or something.

That idk. Never jumped the wrong ones.

Alright, pulled the codes.

21 (Throttle Position Sensor Circuit ( Signal Voltage High ) and 36 (Transaxle Shift Control Problem).

TPS code makes sense, because it has no power or bogs.

Probably just order a new one, only $35 at Rock Auto, and see what happens.

In the future, when you list codes, list the DEFINITION ALSO for others reading the topic. It's common courtesy to your fellow members.

Don't ignore code 36. It's not common, but it can get ugly.

Done, I added what they meant.

Not sure where to go on 36. The trans was low on fluid once or twice, but we fixed the leak. I think I will change the fluid and filter...otherwise, not sure what to do. Maybe do some inspection on it, seems to shift fine now the leak is fixed.

I think 36 can sometimes accompany a 21 because the PCM uses the TPS to determine shifting times. I wouldn't by surprised if it went away when you fix the TPS.

That sounds about right...I unplugged the TPS and plugged it back in, it ran good, but the light came back on, same codes, I guess I will order a new one.

Either way, this car does not have much power it seems. I hope the TPS fixes it. I also suspect a plugged catalytic, because flooring this thing on take off it won't even squeal the tires...maybe its just a heavy car, but some guy I know with an Oldsmobile 88 and a 3800 floors it and it has some tire action...
