Shaking at highway speeds

Since purchasing my '00 SSEi, I've had a noticeable shaking when going 70-75mph on the highway. It only seems to occur when turning the wheel toward the right, but I believe I've felt it slightly while going straight or turning the other way.

I noticed early on that my driver's side CV joint was throwing grease everywhere, so I replaced the axle yesterday. The shaking still continues.

Tires wear even, no other noticeable issues observed. Any ideas?

This is a common problem on the 00+ models. I've had it for a while now and new tires or brakes did not help.

I've been curious about the cv axles myself. The reason is that I was told the ssei has a different shaft than the se. I think it is weighted. If so, I wonder if someone put on by mistake. Any thoughts?

It's not the weight that's different, it's the length of the passenger side axle-shaft. Neither will physically fit in the other. The driver's side axles are the same.

Gonna ask the obvious since you didnt state it, but have you had your tires balanced recently?

But yes it is a common thing to have a shimmy shake at those speeds.

jedwards83 i had the same issue on my 03 bad. i also tried everything to no avail. assuming your front end is tight, clean the hub, rotor and wheel flange mating surface clean, then balance the tires and torque lug nuts to 100 ft lbs. this is what i did and cured all problems for good. try it!
