My car has been sitting for a couple weeks. Today I try to start it and nothing happens...power comes on but engine won't crank, click, nothing. I suppose its the VATS but I need to know how to bypass it. Please help thanks.

First off I'd check your battery connections. If they are a little loose they can allow full power to accessories, but not to the starter. That's your first step. If those don't turn out, then we can discuss VATS.

Checked the battrery. Connections are secure, however the instrument panel is blank...nothing lights up and the gauges don't budge.

Jump pack or jumper cables attached to a good battery -preferably have it in another vehicle and let that vehicle run for a couple mins with jumper cables hooked up. Then turn the 2nd vehicle off and try it. If that isn't enough to start it but it turns over, start the charging vehicle (turn all power accessories off -heat, radio, defrost, etc..) and rev engine up 3-500 rpm to bring alternator charge up and try starting the SSEi then.

There is also the possibility the battery is so bad it won't even work to jump it. Removing and having the battery checked is advised also. I recently ran into this situation. Car wouldn't turn over, even while jumped (there was interior lights also). Replaced the battery and it started right up.

This happened to me when the 10 year old Delco battery kicked the bucket a few years back. The interior lights were on weakly. Replacing the battery with a new one solved everything.
