you have to find a hu that supports controls for steering wheels

there is an adapter you can buy for the steering wheel controlls but the HU has to have a rf sensor..... aka it has to support a remote

Best buy sells a unit that retains steering wheel controls on any HU that has a jack in back of the unit for a wired remote and most units have that. Just go talk to the instal guys in back. The unit cost like $80 when I bought on for my old GP about 3 years ago. Go ask them the name and go find one online cheaper.

The PAC Audio SWI-X is the harness for the wheel controls, IIRC. Turns them into a remote, IIRC.

Certain eclipse h/u have controls for sw built in. However its a 2 wire setup mostly for toyota/honda... the swix is about the only way to make them work and iirc it has a lil xmitter that covers the ir receiver. It works spotty. At best. (Unless theve fixed em since I was an installer)

Also, if you want chimes and onstar, you will need a gmos ribbon cable.. do you have an amplified system (bose)?

You would want a metra 993301 or 992001 dash kit, a met gmos05 harness and iirc a metra 40cr10 antenna adapter to make everything work. That should retain chime with a non amped system
