The Jonneville SSEi -1997
Now that I got her waxed up, figured I'd show off my hours of labor. Just bought a few weeks ago and the idea of driving a car on salted roads with no thick coat of carnauba on it just makes me ill (is that just me or do others get that way?). Now she's ready for the winter road treatment (at least top side).

One thing which I like about my Bonne' is the paint color. This color changes from a deep dark green on overcast days or when in shadow to a vivid metallic blue-green in direct light. I once almost bought a camaro in a color like this and that was called 'Mystic Teal" does anyone know if that is what this paint code is named?

Here's a view in direct light on a sunny (however COLD!) afternoon.

...And check out the difference on a darker afternoon (yesterday)
Image.
Oh and check out the General Altimax HP's, Likin' my new treads.

This image shows off the paint color, though it looks much more blue here, but it ALWAYS looks different.

When the person from the DMV asked me what color it was (for registration) I was a bit stupidfied. "Well, it's kind of blue and kind of green? and kind of light but sometimes dark, see?" I think I went with Green to try and keep it simple.

If I get a photograph that shows how the color really looks (if there even is such a thing) I'll post it along with anything I add that might make the car unique. For now it's pure OEM and I'm likin' it!

Gorgeous!

The 96-99 Ei is by far my favorite Bonnie! Good work on cleaning her up!

How many miles on her?

We're very familiar with that color, several cars here have had it. The most prominent is EchoSSEi, who's car we have bestowed several girlie-oriented derogatory color names. Don't take it personally though. It's just fun to mess with Bob.

Nice car... I love that color. What you're describing reminds me of my 06 impala, it was laser blue metallic and in some lights it looked black and in the sun it was the brightest blue you would ever see, but for a few hours at around dusk, it looked like an iridescent blue-purple.
BTW you're not the only wax freak here for sure, and I am one of them for sure.

My old '96 SLE was that color, and I loved it. This color looks outstanding once it's all slicked up :btruestory:

Chameleon IIRC is the name of that color.

@I67se: Chameleon IIRC? (What is IIRC?) Chameleon makes sense though between the green and it's color shift.

@Blackhawk: About 97,000, I agree there are some things that I prefer about this design to the later body style (glass headlamps that don't turn yellow, that neat-o looking bar that mimics old'skool front window vents (and makes smaller electric windows that I think won't wear out the motors as quickly), I also think a look that is more defined from looking like a larger Grand Prix (not that there is anything wrong with the Grand Prix, but unique is good).

She runs well but I know I'll be hearing more from my 'charger soon. It makes that low grinding noise I've heard about elsewhere. And yes Will, I did read your piece on fixing that noise. I may have more questions about that but I hope not too soon.

IIRC isn't a paint code. It's "If I Recall Correctly".

Your paint code is Majestic Teal Metallic.

(272C___43___Majestic Teal Met ______________96-99)

http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... =42&t=1663 (again, I invite you to poke through Techinfo and see what articles are there).

Those internet acronyms can drive a person mad! (IMHO). I guess within any search sometimes we get lucky and sometimes we're one click AWAY from the results we're seeking. Promise I'll do my best to review the techinfo forum and see what else is in there. So it's "Majestic Teal" then. Good to know. I suppose I can confirm that by looking at the decal as described in your link but you sound more than a little confident so I am too. Thanks "again" for pointing me in the right direction, I know I'll be asking my GM dealer for some paint so they will need the code. I recall on my Buick there were three different variations on Matador Red and they needed the VIN to get me a can of matching paint.

Very nice! The '96-99 Bonneville SSEi in either Majestic Teal or black are my favorites of all the newer Bonnies. Nearly bought a Majestic Teal '96 SSEi a few years back - had the Camel interior and chrome wheels. Still want one....maybe someday :)

Fantastic car! It's never bad to see another car more than 10 years old in that kind of condition!

Just make sure you spend every ounce of effort you can spare on preventing underbody rust...especially around the subframe mounts....

This week my daughter (9) thought we were getting in the wrong car because "Our car is a different color", That was pretty cool. RJolly that graphic is hysterical. I feel that an SSEi is such a brawny vehicle it can get away with wearing an (ahem) pretty color due to confidence in its masculinity. Now if this was a Buick Lacrosse? um, no. I'll get more photos when the weather doesn't suck and I can keep it clean for more than 2 days.

ROFL, can I use that for my car too? I'm surprised that no one has made one of those for my color, LOL.

You can but "Silver Steel Gray Metallic" isn't as likely to be used to name a "My Pretty Pony Doll" as "Majestic Teal". It's OK, I know the car has BALLS.

"Majestic" implies royalty...girlie? maybe...but dont sass the Queen,or its off with your head!

I always thought of my GP as macho, but the Bonnie is just too darn sexy looking to think of as masculine...but thats fine with me cuz I do love an athletic woman!
