The dreadfull Service Stabilty System...

I was goin thru some of the older post looking at fixes for this,is taking it to someone with a tech II my best option? The car will ding the warning light almost everytime it gets to the middle of my subdivision. Now I have never noticed the brakes acting up or pulling..Also I want to mention I did do the ISS a little while back..? I remember someone writing that they go hand in hand.Any ideas?

You can dink around and try to diagnose without it, but using a Tech2 is the only sure-fire way to track down the problem.
The ISS has nothing to do with the stability system... you might be thinking the SWPS (steering wheel position sensor), which is near the ISS.

You dont think it would be anything MAJOR do you? ABS pump or somthing like that....Also with that scanner will it say which wheel sensor it is IF that would be the problem?

No way to say for sure, but no, it probably won't be major. Either a WSS or wiring. Yes, the Tech2 will tell you which wheel is problematic.

Do you have ABS and Trac Off lights on? That would either be a WSS or possibly the ABS Pump. If it's just the Service Stability light, then it's more than likely be the SWPS, or the Yaw Sensor in the trunk.
I agree, get it to a dealer and have it scanned with a Tech II, or someone with a newer Snap-On Scanner might be able to do the same thing.

actually knock on wood I havent seen any lights come on yet,only the DIC light so far. I guess Il do some ivestigating on a shop with one of those...thanks guys! (dealer is way over priced,Ill do the work myself)

You could ohm test the wheel speed sensors. This is not a 100% accurate test, but it is if the sensor is way out of spec. I don't believe there is actually a spec on this? But when I say "spec" in this situation, I mean, the two fronts should read very similar and the two rears also. They should be pretty close all the way around really. Also, look for corrosion in the connectors, and frayed/cut/broken wires. At the wheel connector is the most likely area for damage, because it is the area of wirring that has all the flex and road debris and snow/salt (maybe).

Actually, a better test for the WSS is to read the AC voltage that the sensor produces when the hub is spinning. I use a wire wheel on the end of my drill, and put the bearing in a vice, using friction to spin it. Depending on how fast your drill can go, you should see some steady voltage.

Check your wheel bearings for play. GM's spec for the fronts is only .005 inch.

As 00Beast mentioned, if the ABS and traction control lights are not on, and you are just getting the service stability system on the DIC, it is unlikely that the problem lies with one of the wheel speed sensors.
As you've stated there has been work done on the intermediate steering shaft, it's possible that the steering position sensor got turned too far out of position, and would be my first suspect. Other than that, it would be a toss up between the yaw rate sensor, and the lateral accelerometer.
