What cars have the 4T60-E transmission?

I fried the forward clutch on my bonnie a few weeks ago  and i've been waiting for a friend to come down with special tools to remove a tranny at a u-pull, but its getting too close to the snow flying (here in southern MN) and i'm getting anxious, he's still really busy, and the beater that i had to buy to drive in the meantime only has a 2.5L four banger, and the lack of power it has is amazing... (aka 0-60 in 15 seconds)
anyway, i'm just wondering whether or not there is a list of all the cars that have the same transmission (or a compatible one without much/any other upgrades) around, or if someone can post one for me. I am just going to pay to have whatever junkyard around here pull it, and someone else put it in. the local tranny shop estimated me $1300 for a rebuilt tranny, but i don't have that money to spend right now, and the u-pull/friend install is way cheaper for me.

anyway, i'm going to try to find the newest/lowest milage transmission that will work with my car. thanks for any help!

You can have your VIN run. Post it here or PM me and I can see if I can get it run.

The better acceleration one with slightly worse economy (generally).

No, that's the quicker one. The 2.84 is the "slower" one, but better for mileage, as you run lower RPM at any given speed.

Nope, 97 N/A is 4T60E. It should work if you swap your diff over.

there wouldn't be any PCM swap or any other little things to do?

Not that I know of. I know the internal wiring is different on the 60E's, just not sure what years it changed. I think 96-97 is compatible.

Don't want to sound mean, but if you don't know what that means you probably shouldn't be attempting it.

i'm not going to do it. a local mechanic/friend is going to. i am just curious, wondering where the "differential" is in a FWD car, and am trying to learn at the same time.

and you didn't sound mean, i actually laughed when i read your comment... ha

its on the passenger side of the transmission, right where the passenger axles goes into the tranny.
