RX-8 Wheels :: Update-THEY'RE ON!

My buddy got new wheels for his RX-8 and I was just looking at his old stockers and thought they were fairly similar to the GXP wheel. Except that the spoke is slightly twisted. The bolt pattern on those cars is 5x114.3 so I thought I'd try them on.
What do you think?
Spacers & probably longer studs would definitely be needed as these don't fit over the hub. But I think more tire would fill the wheel gap decently. I would either repaint them white, or strip them down and polish them. $200 for the set w/ tires. But the tires are beyond bald so it doesn't really matter and two of them were curbed pretty good, but might be fixable. The swoopies would move to the '93. Or I could put these on the '93....hmm. Meh, Probably not something I'll be doing, at least not any time soon. I have other priorities at the moment, just thought I'd share.

Just have the hub hole bored out to 70.3mm. It's a common thing to do and should be cheap, $20-30 total. And that will ensure that you are hubcentric for that 114.3.
Otherwise, good hubcentric spacers are 100/pair and studs are about $25-30 per wheel.
Definitely go with a bigger tire if you're not thinking of a drop.
Since they do look like GXPs, I think they fit pretty well.

I wanted to add this, while I think the wheels look great on there, I'm just concerned with the idea of painting the wheels white.
Now I know that you're probably thinking, "Well, dude, the 90s Bonnevilles had color-matched wheels factory." You're correct but when I compare both generations, I feel the 2000+ carries more visual mass and that if you paint it white, then it'll be far too much compared to the 93 that doesn't look massive... You know what I'm saying?

I agree. No white, either leave them silver, or polish them.

They look great on there!! Just get rid of the Mazda logo and add some tire. And I agree with everyone else, white would a little too much.. What about chrome?

Just realized that those remind me of the wheels on Jim's car.

I see your point about the white thing. I'd still consider t if they went onto the '93 though. Otherwise I was leaning more towards stripping & polishing them myself.
I didn't think about the center being bored over to fit on the hub though, interesting.
And Paul...a wheel is a wheel, and made by the same company that has their stamp on most other GM wheels at that.

I wouldn't put the 18s on the 93. I think the swoopies would look better on the 93, after all, it's a popular conversion and there's a reason why.
I think all 2000+ needs 18s to obtain a balance of visual mass and presence.
I have spoken!

i'd like to second (or third) the hub boring. it's a simple procedure and the only right way to do it.
as for painting them. go gunmetal or go home...

I get get the set now for $50. But two of the wheels definitely need to be repaired....and then I'll need tires as well. Might pick them up and hold on to them for a few months. Not sure yet.
