I'm fixin to replace the rear shocks on my 2000 SSEI. Alot of people on here say buy the monroes, but the gabriel hi jackers come with air line kit for the same price. Are the gabriels as good as monroes?

Hmmm save-up and buy the Delco's or OEM at a GM direct IMO. Otherwise its a compromise so flip a coin for either the Monroes or Gabriels.

Wooooahhhhh. Who says the Monroe's are a compromise? I have 20k on my Monroes with absolutely no compromise from what I can tell. Get the Monroes Shawn, you'll be glad you did.

IMO they are a complete compromise (more-so on the fronts-- very huge noticable difference in ride quality).
I have had all (3) OEM, Delco and Monroe... Monroe being the worst ride by leaps and bounds.
Typically I don't like the quality of OEM, but in the case of shocks/struts they are dialed in best if your looking for ride quality.

I think if you polled all the 00+ owners who have replaced their shocks, 90% will agree with me that the Monroe's are a great setup. Maybe you're focused more on that cushy ride from your Buick, whereas us SSEi owners enjoy a little stiffer ride. I think the Monroe's will be great for Shawn.
Do not get the Gabriels. They're junk, and you don't need any "air line kit". Your car has everything needed from the factory. Unplug the air line from the old shocks and hook them onto the new shocks. That's all you need to do.

Fair enough...Monroe definitely will give you a stiffer ride and handling and much less dampening.
For now I replaced with Delcos in the rear due to costs otherwise I would have gone OEM there also. But we're adding air in the back so the difference becomes a lot less noticeable unless you replace the springs.

AFAIK, Delco is what you would buy at a dealer too.

The may all be made by Delco but the fronts came in OEM GM Packaging no Delco association. Kinda like Walmarts version of Goodyear tires???

Probably. I wouldn't spend the money at a dealer for the same shocks you have now. Just like GM's Fuel System additive being Chevron Techron Concentrate with a different sticker (on the same bottle) and twice the price.

I got the monroe air shocks for the back. it was basically plug and play set up!!! the dealer was 260.00 a piece. I got them for 60.00 for the pair.

The OEM's were 150 ea. at most GM directs, but now they bumped the price to 180 (including shipment).
