P1181 Code and repair

So recently I started getting the P1181 code for maximum adapt and long shift detected and decided I needed to get that addressed as soon as possible. I reviewed the code and came up with the pressure control solenoid being bad in the transmission. I figured that I have been able to do most repairs on cars so why not this one as well. Main reason for my decision to tear into the repair was the transmission specialist in my area wanted $500 bucks to fix it. Alldata and Mitchell on Demand both called for 5 hours and some minutes to do the repair, so I figured with my knowledge I could handle the job.

After working on it for a little over 4 hours, I completed everything. I decided to put a new drivers axle shaft into the car, I really recommend this necessary repair if you have that trouble code, I knew the job was hard but it wasnt as bad as I figured it would be.

I did get away from dropping the subframe on this car, I just had to take all the engine and transmission mounts out besides the rear center mount, with them all off I could use a jack and stand to position the transmission just right to get the solenoid out. If anyone else has this problem with your transmission please let me know, maybe I can get you some pointers

Isn't the code 1811? Did you happen to take pictures of the process?

Removing all the engine/trans mounts sounds more intensive than dropping the 6 subframe bolts.

yes it was the 1811 code thank you, i was half asleep when posting. It was actually alot easier removing the side mounts and the front mounts, i left the rear mount on, set engine and transmission both on 2 different floor jacks. After slowly lowering the motor side jack We was able to slide the side cover back far enough and take a 90 degree pick and remove the clip from the pressure solenoid. We had roughly 35 minutes longer in the process trying to locate and remove the clip. I didnt get the chance to take pictures but i am going to see about uploading the photos from Alldata or Mitchell on Demand for you guys to see.

so you removed the mounts and slid the engine/trans to the passenger side, making enough room for the side cover to partially come off? I guess thats a good idea for when you are just replacing the PCS, but if you need to do anything more than that, the side cover has to come off.

Yea that was my thoughts exactly, sliding the motor over enough to just change the PCS was an idea a good friend I work with came up with. He is a 15 year Master ASE mechanic that has a lift in his personal garage out his house and we started it last night when he got off work. He said since the side cover gasket was reusable and was good we would just slide it over and make the room. I would have probably still been fighting that PCS if I attempted it myself with no lift to work on.
