Austin-Healey Hilllclimb IX pictures

If you like cars, you'll probably like SOMETHING that was at this event this weekend. 427 Cobra Replicas, Cressida with an RB swap, Classic Sprites and Healeys, a 97 Miata with a brand new LS3 swapped in (AMAZING), some 911's, bunch of turbo'd modern coupes/hatches, a 69 Camaro (Over 400hp) and a Chevelle SS on stickey AutoX rubber, a new Saleen 281SC,
This was a new event for me, a combined Autocross and Hillclimb event put on by the local Austin-Healey car club. Since they will not fill it, they have limited availability for race and modern cars. I bought a spot from a kid once I had my new summer tires ordered.
Basically have a small autocross at the bottom of a ski hill, a majority of that was the figure 8 section, and then we fly past the parking lot booths and up the hill.
The Hillclimb section is VERY dangerous, it has at most 33% of the ravine side covered in guard rail, and some of that is literally sticking flat out of the side of the concrete due to errosion. We were instructed 8/10th driving on the hill, and anyone who hit 2 cones was done for the day. It's over a 50ft drop into the ravine sooooo discretion was the better part of valor. We weren't even told times, or allowed to talk to timing officials until the end of the day to avoid serious competitions. I got above 70 on the hill, and I was placed 16th at the end of the day. Coned away my best runs as well, probably would've been top 10 if I had kept it clean.
I was also on DSLR duty as a member of MAC didn't want to be leaving his camera sitting around. So I just spent the day honing my panning and zoom ability. T'was fun!
FTD was a guy from the MN AutoX scene, he did the autox course ass backwards his first run, then KILLED everyone by atleast a second.
