Got Midnight back, pics of what was found

Had hail damage a couple weeks ago. Got my assessment with about 11 dents (1 being a door ding and one that came on the car when i bought it :D)
With the assessment they put repair/refinish so with this, I had the dealership repaint three doors not included in the claim. Only things not repainted were both bumpers and the side skirts. Too bad I haven't even been able to see what the new paint looks like since it's been raining from when i picked it up. Hopefully in the middle of the week i will be able to wash her and take a bunch new pics.

Sounds like a good deal for that. Reminder not to wax for at least a month to let the paint cure/de-gas.

3 months is the safst on that. You can wash it all you want, just no wax for 90 days

In 90 days there'll be 3 feet of snow up there, lol. My painter said 1 month - 6 weeks. You can buy special wax for freshly painted items that allows the paint to de-gas.

last year we got snow in january and not much of it. But it's gonna have to go back and get redone.
Finally got a chance to see the work done since it stopped raining and I could clean and wipe the car down. Not impressed what so ever. driver door panel not reinstalled properly, paint runs on all vertical edges of all four doors and one door handle, clear coat over spray on my driver door window and to top it off. The paint looks more like a really dark midnight blue compared to the rear bumper (not repainted) which still has the factory black paint from 2002. Paint doesn't darken with age, it fades. Gonna complain on Tuesday, hopefully i don't have to go through the insurance company to complain.
so pics will have to wait, except i will be posting pics of the runs and hopefully capture the difference in colour.

Well took my car in today to the dealership and showed the body shop manager the runs and the discolouration. He asked when I could bring the car in, I told him the 30th. He said alright, we will take it then and repaint the entire car including the bumpers. :D

Wow, nice score!
I was going to say though, the plastic vs metal parts of the car don't exactly match anyway, painting just one is only going to make it more apparent. But what you're saying seems much more off color. I await the finished pics for sure!

If its gona get repainted & you know that they have a problem with overspray, then I would sugest you remove all that you can from the car before you take it to the dealer. Like the front & rear light, all of the emblems, if you know the window trims & the rear view mirrors are a good idea to take out. or just tell them you want this done. some shops just mask some of this thing & spray over it.

here they take everything off. The guy even said when I was getting the doors added in the first time, that if I wanted to do the bumpers too, they have to be taken off.

That looks like it was done in somebody's backyard, not a professional shop.

YAY!!! now to top it off, 2 weeks before my repaint appointment. Was driving around the north end of our city and a storm came in. Started to hail, pea size, decided I'm gonna drive north away from it. By the time I was able to get under a bridge, the hail became golf ball size and I now have 1 dent on the upper portion of the rear driver door - just under the window, hood has a nice big one just before the windshield, and the roof has 3 all behind the sun roof. So far that's all I can see. The girl friend's car was parked at a tim hortons where I picked her up from. She has over 30 dents in just her hood and roof alone.

So had another detailed look at my car today,
-found over spray on the molding at the back of the driver rear quarter window,
-over spray on the plastic molding that creates the vents between the hood and the windshield,
-over spray on the interior body panel where the rear passenger door latch is (along where the rear seat is),
-over spray and it's sticky under the rear fin where it hangs over the trunk lid (both sides)
-and another paint run on the passenger side view mirror.

x2 on this now. It seems pretty obvious to me that they are not removing things and doing a poor job at taping off as well.
Sucks to hear about the hail damage again though.

Do you get hail often?

This is the most Hail I've ever seen here of this size. Golf ball to hard ball. I will be taking the head lights and tail lights off. It's not totally the body shops fault, it's more the idiot doing the work. He's not gonna be allowed to touch my car next week. And I'll make sure they remove stuff properly this time.

Well just went out and did a final detail to my car for the insurance company tomorrow. Found even more over spray (really easy to find when the surface is rough and you can see the tape lines).
-Inside all four doors (where the paint is supposed to be, not the panels)
-Along the top of the side skirts
-and along all the panels that make up the shell of the car where doors latch to.

Well my car goes in on monday and I just received a phone call from the dealers rental place. I get a free rental :D and I don't even have "loss of vehicle" on my insurance. Hopefully I get the Buick Lacrosse. Since it is the most similar thing to my bonny.
