I was asked how I did my HI beam over ride for my fog lights.

Wire color and locations change so this is the base that i used for both my cars.

At least in Indiana, this would be illegal, so anyone considering this should check their local laws.

will they seriously pull you over for having foglights on with your high beams?
thats ridiculous.

There is a limit to the number of lights that can be lit on the front of your vehicle, which I believe is 4. Since the 2000+ Bonnevilles have the low beams and high beams on at the same time, add the fog lights to that and it makes 6 lights.

But I highly doubt the cops around here would pull you over.

A good friend of mine who was not in anyway a hot dogger of showoff was pulled over AND ticketed because he had aftermarket fog lamps that were on at the same time as his other 4 lamps. Sometimes, cops get bored.

Without the high beams on, the foglights operate as normal, but when the high beams energize the relay, the fogs get power directly from the battery.

YES!! I was pulled over for having my fogs on within city limits. It was only a local law (Stillwater, OK) but some cops will pull you over for "illegal lighting."

It's not the number of lights you have on, it's the amount of candlepower that is possible by having your low beams/fogs on with the high beams. It's just standard thought that if you have your high beams on, any low beam of fog light would put you over the threshold

With that said, I've done this on many vehicles and never had issue with any law enforcement (keep in mind, I'm in a metro area of 9 - 10 million people, so there are a lot of police around too). Reason being, I'm not using the high beams (with fogs and low beams on) when I'm in traffic. :)

I've never attempted it though on my Bonneville, so I can't answer any how tos on this.

The way i look at it is if the cops can see your hi's and fog light on at the same time, then your to close to him with your hi's on. In MN your not alowed to have more then 4 lights on eather hi or low, as i remember it atleast.
