There'll be some headache involved. I've looked into it already with the 92-99 subframe, and quite a bit of work is involved mating that to the engine. But for the 2k-up, it probably isn't so bad.
But there's still the issue of the PCM to contend with. The LS4 is DBW, meaning a new gas pedal will have to go in with the swap. The LS4 also uses ECM instead of PCM, with a TCM on piggyback via LAN. Now, one *might* be able to use an F-body LS1 computer and just modify the topend of the engine to accept the LS1 intake (in doing so you will lose the DoD function though) and modify the tables to run the 4T65e, but it hasn't been done. As an FYI, Darth Fiero did this to a Fiero, but found he had to use almost everything in the LAN loop just to get it to run (both controllers, plus the body control module).

And youd have to get a FWD 5.3. Theyre physically shorter than RWD versions.

Yeah, by about 10mm I think. And they are all aluminum. And....you MUST get the LS4-specific trans. The starter bolts to the trans case on those models. IMO, not worth trying unless you had the entire assembly from the Impy SS or the GP GXP (which would be a bigger PITA due to the tapshift wiring you would have to do. At least with the SS, it's somewhat simpler)
