Me and my Baby

I have been a proud parent of a 95 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 series II since 2000. Yep I think of her as a child to me. I even gave her a name Baby. No I haven't modified her at all yet and not really going to do too much to her as far as how she looks. Just going to keep her till well I die.
I am a 34 year old bartender/housewife/mother/college student that lives in north east Texas. My Name is Donna.
Ok now how I came about getting Baby. She was my husbands uncles (Gale) car and he died Feb 5 2000. He had a massive heart attack. After hearing his bedroom window break that evening when my husband went to get the house picked up that evening well he found what scared his uncle. The bedroom window was broken a large dead black bird was on the bed and a live livid hawk was in the room. All that noise would have scared me to death too. Well his uncles family decided that we need the car since we had young children at that time only 2. So they gave us the car. Wished we didn't get her that way but that is how we got her.
Yes I do love the car and to me as long as I have baby Gale is with us. You could say that she is worth the world to me I guess. I drove her for 5 years with getting oil changes every 3000 miles and anything else she needed to keep running. I gave her a bath once a week and treated the leather seats and dash and tires every day and 5 coats of wax. Now I am sure you are saying you have had the car 8 years now and you drove only 5 years so far well let me tell you for the last 3 years I have been unable to drive her. Nope nothing wrong with me it was Baby she suffered a heart attack of sorts. So I parked her cause we couldn't afford to fix her because we thought that she needed more work that she did. So for the last 3 years I have treated her seats and tires and bathed her and waxed her. I had many arguments with my husband about her he kept saying we can't afford to fix her so we might as well take her over the scales or sell her to a salvage yard. Oh no that wasn't going to happen to Baby I would salvage my husband first.
My dad came in for the first time in 7 years and went right to work on Baby he did the following Changed the intake manifold, Water pump, thermostat, and timing assembly, and oil change. I changed the spark plugs. And she almost started yep something she hasn't done in 3 years. Well dad forgot to set top dead center and about the crank sensor and he had to leave town for a job so we sent her to a mechanic. Now she cranks up and runs again
However the mechanic only wanted to talk to me how well kept my car is and not what was wrong. The sob asked if I wanted to sell her cause she needs more lots more work. I dont think so she idles fine and yeah the oil pressure drops lower than normal but that is because dad put in 5w30 instead of 10w30. I even saw a puddle of about 1/4 to 1/2 qt on the floor where he had her in the shop saying that she lost that much oil in 5 minuts. I then went to look at my car and saw where oil had been spilled on the top of the engine and when I say the top it looked if it came out of the intake manifold hahahahaha that is where water is not oil and the way the oil looked it was too thick to be the oil I had in my car and dirty as well. I started her up and no smoke no burning oil smell nothing and guess what no oil leak and I ran her for 10 minutes. But the mechanic tried to convince my husband that she needs about another 2500 or more in repairs so that my husband would say it it time to sell the car. But he knows that that is never going to happen. So I borrowed the 250.00 from work and paid the mechanic off and got my car back and will be taking her to another mechanic to get a 2nd opinion. And if she needs the work so be it but she runs like new well except I have to get her new cv joints and that is the next step cause I will be taking her to where I always took her and that is the dealer ship. And never again will she go to someone my dad says to take her to.
