East Coast Meet

Meet is cancelled.
I looking to see if there would be any interest in a meet here in Virginia. I realize there aren't many members here in Va. or around Va. so almost anyone that wanted to come would have a nice long drive ahead of them. But I was thinking it would be a cool chance for the North to meet the South in the middle.
I'm thinking a 3-4 day weekend meet in August (Friday-Monday). There are plenty of hotels and campgrounds within 5 minutes if you'd rather do that but we have lots of floor space, an extra bed and a few couches.
There are quite a few parks around and the drag strip is 40 minutes away. Decent cruising roads around here and nice beaches too.
Busch Gardens is 15 minutes away if that interests anyone and a few Go Kart places.
Colonial Williamsburg/Jamestown are right here too if that is of any interest, we'll at least be cruising through.
The Plan:
Friday:
- Arrivals & hangin' out around the house.
- Head to Richmond Dragway around 4:00pm. Gates open at 5:00, racing 6:00-10:00pm. Prices are $10 a person, $5 extra to race.
Track Website:
http://richmonddragway.com/ver9/?page_id=202
Saturday:
-Any minor car work or detailing.
-Possible Cruise & Photoshoot.
-Cookout/Grille @ the house.
Sunday:
-Possible Cruise & Photoshoot.
Monday:
To be determined.

I was looking to dig this topic back up soon but might as well do it now.
Maybe see if we have any more interested in attending and maybe narrow down the dates. Dates for me would be pretty open between middle of May to the end of August would be easy for me. I could pull off something in the spring/fall season too, but I'll have school to deal with then. Suggestions?

Oh yeah, that's right! How'd I forget that. Also just remembered the University Baja Team goes to competition for a week long event in Kentucky in May. That's if we even go...ODU isn't giving us the funding we need right now and the program looks like it might get cut by the end of the year, that or we won't be able to finish the baja build in time.
So it's looking more like June/July/August or a possibly a Fall meet then.

Something in July or August would work for me. June is hectic with schools getting out, progress reports to write, and annual review meetings to attend. Plus I'd be due for a little "personal trip" time around then.

There is a large cruise-in style car show in Ocean City,MD on May 20-22, and again on Oct 7-9. I've never been but have seen pics and it is huge, pulling in about 3k vehicles (and easy beach access) The fall show in Oct is actually held on the boardwalk.
The All-GM Nationals at Carlisle,PA is the weekend of June 24-26, and I already have a vacation slated for that week.
As far as another possible option that correlates with another event is the Neptune Air Show on Sept 23-25 at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach. This is a fabulous weekend with free bands on the boardwalk, a Friday night twilight air show, and the Blue Angels flying on both Saturday and Sunday shows. Admission and parking for the air show are free, and if you've never seen the "Blues" you owe yourself at least once, because it is exciting to say the least.
The great part about this weekend in VA Beach is the plentiful activities and ample hotels where a meet could be held. Lots of great backdrops for photo shoots, a couple of local go-kart tracks, and plenty of night time entertainment for whatever your flavor might be.
Just some input

I think I'm going to aim for August. I'll check on the track nights, they have a test and tune every other Friday night typically.

Richmond Dragway does a Friday Night Street Shootout to help keep racing off the streets and on the track. It's like a test and tune night. Sometimes it gets a little packed, but at it's worst I've gotten 4 runs in.
Looking at the track schedule I'm thinking either August 12th-14th or 19th-21st.
Any preferences?

Well got no responses but I know Ghosthawk preferred the weekend of the 12th. And I found out our family reunion is the weekend of the 19th so that no longer is an option for me.
So, looking like August 12th-14th is gonna be the dates.
