Big list-O-Questions

Bought the SSEi just yesterday (2000 with 132k, for way too much $ :sad5: ), and before it goes faster I want to get everything up to par.
First, changed the oil with Castrol Edge 10-30 and got a "real" mechanic to check my belts. (Said I need an idler pulley but not bad yet)
Second, flushed and pressure tested the coolant system before DEX could wreak more havoc.
Next, I was planning on a tranny flush and filter, then changing the supercharger oil. Anything I'm missing?
Second part of this post (maybe it should should be a second thread?) is the problems I'm already having. Driver door module must be out (not driver controls or memory seat), so I got one coming from Andrew. For no apparent reason my ABS light, Trac Off light both come on while driving down the road and give me a "Service Stabilitrak" notice. I've been reading this could be a WSS or a couple different modules. Anyone have a tech2 around southwest Wisconsin?
The other thing that JUST happened was I set the parking break, and when I pressed it again to release it, it didn't come forward. When I pulled it forward with my foot, it came to the normal position, then i released my foot and it shot back down 3 clicks into where it would be on again. What the deuce?
I also have this phantom shake that came on at 60 and was so bad it almost made me sick... then I got it checked out and the mechanic said he couldn't find anything wrong. I took it on a 45 mile trip and it never happened again?
Any help would be great, I just got the car and don't want to drop all the cash I had planned for upgrades into BS repairs.

I wouldn't flush the tranny. I'd just drop the pan, let the fluid drain, and put in a new filter. Flushes can sometimes "upset the balance" in a tranny.
Doesn't the parking brake have a release handle?

The cables for the parking brake have a tendency to stretch after a while. You'll find an adjustment for it on the driver's side of the car, under the back door. If you're lucky, it won't be rusted up too badly.
Having the vehicle scanned with a Tech II or other scanner that can read ABS codes is the only way to find the problem. A well equipped shop may be able to help you with that, and cost far less than a trip to the dealer.

Being at school, I don't have a lift or even a place I can jack up the car to get the pan off. The only shops around here do a "complete fluid exchange" with an option of the filter being changed... and refuse to do the filter by itself.

Nope. Push once to set, push again to release.

Going to go check this right meow

I lived with the ABS,Trac light and Stabilitrak code exactly as you are getting, for a few months before tasking it in to see how much they were going to rape me for and it ended up being the wire harness leading from one of the wheel speed sensors that was crusty, worn and just plain ugly looking. They replaced it with one from a Pontiac Montana that was going to the wreckers and about $60 later all those codes disappeared. Also if you happen to get the Check Gas Cap code, you will read that it may be problems with the evap system or more sinister costly areas of the fuel system but mine was simply just that...A new gas cap eliminated that code as well. Matter of fact the guys at the econo lube place I changed the oil at replaced it for free. I am still dealing with trying to solve a leaky trunk for years and no power at all to all doors except the drivers side and rebuilt the trans and of course home made fixes for the door regulators that will go opnce a year min if you buy new ones. The cars have it where it counts and are fun to drive but GM RAPED it badly when it came to chinsing out on little things that never should have been

Quick question...
Is the ABS, Trac Off, Brake and service Stabilitrack all on at the same time( I will assume yes )....
Do these lights come on and stay on as soon as you turn the ignition on or once you start moving?

You're good.

95% of the time yes. Once in awhile none come on at all, atleast not for 15 miles or so.

Sounds a lot like a bad wheel hub assembly or a wire to a wheel hub..

Diagnosed it with a buddy's Snap On scanner... had 3 codes- Right front wheel speed sensor low voltage, Right front wheel speed sensor circuit incomplete, and another one that means almost the same.
Sounds like I need to replace a WSS.

Also need to check the wiring to the WSS's.

I'm not sure if the Bonnevilles are the same, as I haven't measured on mine yet, but a '99 Grand Prix has 5 volts across the supply wires when disconnected from the WSS. I'd suggest comparing the voltage you get on the right side, with what the left shows.

After checking the harnesses, if I need a WSS would this fit the bill?

I thought I'd have to replace the whole hub assembly but RockAuto doesn't list a hub or sensor for the front.

Where is this speed sensor located? I did replace the left side wheelbearing assembly but did not see or found a speed sensor. Please let me know.
TIA Velo

The wheel speed sensor is part of the hub assembly, the connector on the hub. Not removable or replaceable separately. I used a Timken 513179 hub on my 03 SSEi and has been great. Your 2000 will take a Timken 513121. I believe the difference is how the connector clips in. Only 2000's take that one, 01-03's take the 513179, and 04-05's are different yet again. Go to RockAuto and select your specific year. Also remember the discount code stickied in the General Chat section that is good for 5%.

Thanks a lot 00Beast. How hard is it to install? and is there a sticky with a how-to? Thanks

It's not terribly hard, but it takes about 2 hours. You'll need a metric wrench set and a torque wrench that goes up to 120 ft/lbs, IIRC. You will need to remove the wheel, caliper, bracket and rotor then the hub unbolts from the back with 13mm head bolts. Turn the knuckle so you can get a socket on straight on, as you do not want to strip the heads on those bolts, like I almost did, lol. You will either need to move the end of the axle or cut the connector off to get it through, and then reverse. Be sure to wire brush the knuckle off and put a layer of anti-seize on it and the face of the hub so that way it will come off if it ever needs to. Same with the bolts, put anti-seize on it. Then reverse the process. Be careful with the connector on the new one, as it is a pain to feed through where the axle goes. It will also be a great time to inspect and replace anything on the brakes, as well as lube the slide pins on the brake calipers with synthetic brake grease. The specs for the brakes are in the Techinfo for Brakes, I'll have to look in my FSM for the hub spec, I don't remember any of them offhand. Any other questions, feel free to ask!

Thank you for that info and that is what I tought, I have a 2003 SEEi and I am in the process of replacing the ISS and the steeringwheel sensor, if I still have any problems I will check the voltage at the WSS.
Thanks again and have agreat day.

If you need it, procedures for lubing/replacing the ISS, and replacing the steering position sensor, are in techinfo.

Flushing the Dex out was a good move but has it had the lower intake manifold gaskets replaced with the aluminum framed units. If not, they should be replaced soon.
