The A/C needs charging.

IS there a proceedure thread somewhere where it can be charged at home? Pictures would help since I'm a little slow .

not sure what type of info you need. if you mean procuring can of freon from auto parts store, the directions that come with the freon are usually pretty good. buy the type that has a built in gauge that will tell you when charge is sufficient. not sure if i am on the right track as to what you need. if you mean charging with gauges, post back and can give you further instructions.

also will help if you state symptons. is AC cooling but just not cold or is there other symptons?

Just the typical Blows hot air. Any A/C charging specific Kit good for our car? Thx.

Are you sure your airmix actuator is working properly? Does your climate control show --- or flash?

Yes, the climate control shows normal. Nothing flashing or out of the ordinary. Just blows uncooled air, that's it. I was hoping there was just a Kit that coudl be hooked up for charging. Does the '93 have R134 or R12? Thx.

I believe it came with R12. I think conversion kits are readily available for R134a at a lot of the typical parts stores. It's been a while since I had to monkey with freon, and even then I was helping my dad while he did most of the work.

If you can hear your ac compressor cycling quickly (every few seconds), then your pressure is low. If your compressor is not cycling at all, it may indicate some other issue.

R 12 to R 134A began in1992. normally there is a sticker along the radiator cover plate (you would be able to see it as you raise the hood and look down where the top of the radiator would be) that has among other things what type of freon is used. hopefully it will be R 134 as you can't buy R 12 without an EPA license.

assuming it is R 134A, you can buy the freon at most auto parts houses. get the type that has a built in charging hose and guage (you can also buy the can of freon that does not have built in charging hose and guage but you would have to purchase other equipment to complete the charging process).

if it is an R 12 system your best bet would be to convert to R 134A. some parts houses have a complete kit for doing so with proper oil, freon, charging hose and guage along with instructions.
