I am just wondering how often I need to change the transmission filter on my 1996 SE The current fluid still looks pinkish and it smells like ? trans fluid.
I had a shady guy in a Texaco oil Change business tell me he thought it smelled burnt, I couldn't smell burnt and the color looked pinkish.

So I am looking for advice on this.

If you used a whit paper towel and the fluid still had a pinkish with a possible light tinge of tan then the fluid is ok and due for a change...

If the fluid was dark brown or black then it would be burnt...

Sounds like you are doing ok..
