My '94 and new roof paint

Well, I'd mentioned earlier that I would get some new pictures up once I had fixed the roof on my car. The paint had oxidized and deteriorated to the point that parts were basically bare metal. Not good, my friends.

I've fixed it and although I have more work to do (basically to the same thing to the hood and probably rear bumper, replace the hood vent covers), I shall post pictures since I had gotten a good waxing to the roof paint this morning.

First, the before situation, which I'd admittedly not posted before (I promise to be more open about these things in the future)... :)

Second, the current pictures from a beautiful spring day in the Upstate of South Carolina:

Looks great now.

The sun faded paint failures on my 94 SSEi are in the identical spots as yours. Only thru the clearcoat now but the white sploches look bad.

I like those hood vents. What are they off of?

J, thanks! That means a good deal, when it comes from you. I don't have a lot of money to put into it, but I do try to take care of it the best I can.

Silverbullet, the vents are actually the pretend "peel and stick vents" that are sold at Advance Auto. I trimmed out the middle portion and used aluminum mesh underneath 'em. Truth be told, they are a little more gaudy looking than I wanted; I purchased some others that have a lower profile and, while they two have chrome strakes, they don't stick out over the hood as much as these do. When I decide to sand and re-paint the hood, I will use those.
Here's the link to a picture that has a close-up of the vents.

Get the right grill, and if you're gonna sand/paint, do real vents PLEASE.

How'd you get the paint fixed/what did it cost? I need that done to mine badly.

Did you see the picture in the link? Because they actually do vent heat from the engine, they're not just sitting on top of the hood. I've got several worn down dremel cutting wheels to prove it. :)

Unless you mean, "do vents from a Firebird GTA," since that's the way many guys have accomplished this.

I think the SE grille looks tons better than the SSEi grille especially when the car looks like that. Great job!

me too, I like the arrow design much better,

I bet it feels nice to not have to look at those "speed stripes" on the roof any more, LOL
looking good

I've thought about throwing an SE grill on my car too. This just helped decide: I love it!
Looks great, nice job on the paint.

Well, for old time's sake, here is a picture of my 1994, and this is the end of the line for my ownership.

And a much older picture:

I knew the days were numbered when my current job meant I didn't have much time for upkeep, and we replaced the Bonneville with a 2003 Suburban last spring.

I think she's going to a good home. Guy buying it knows a lot about cars and knows engines. I've greatly enjoyed the advice and so many guys that I've learned from here. I'll still lurk, but I doubt I'll be able to post or contribute much now that I'm out of the GM 3800 club... Now, if I'm able to get that Pontiac G8 GT I've dreamt of for years, I'll be back here with pictures right away!

But in the mean time, so long and thanks for all the fish!

Definitely sad to see you no longer have a 3800. Don't forget to "drop in" once in a while, G8 or not. - BC
