I am going to be doing the brakes all around here soon and was planning on painting the calipers. What color would look good? Here is a picture for reference:

Since I picked "Other": How about painting them cast-iron or steel colored ( dull metallic gray ) So they look stock, but clean all the time.

Black, since that's always classy.

I voted black, since you have tinted tails and tint, but silver might look good too, give it a little touch of color.

Looking at the pic, I think this would be best.

Don't go red. For your car I think it will stand out too much. I painted mine red but it looks a lot better on a white car with red/silver pinstripes.

Well, I didn't have it done in this picture, but on my old black SSEi the calipers were painted black because it went better with the red pinstripe and untinted tails (amber part cleared out).
With your car having no red pinstripe and tinted tails black or silver might be your best bet.

Black for sure, best decision I have made.

Red. If you want a contrast that looks fast.

Black would be so ......... 'yawn'.......stock, but would however go along with your all black theme.


Silver or white would look weird IMO, but that's coming from someone who has 'rice wing' wipers on his Bonne.

I voted black. Yes, red would be a contrast and would be great if you want people just to notice your calipers, and not the car.

NOT BLACK! It will NOT stand out on a black car. If your going to go through the work, shouldn't it stand out? I'm not saying paint them hot pink or anything, but you do want it to stand out, right? How about white?

White is definately a not. I don't think that would go at all. Right now I am leaning towards black or this:

I think the red would actually pull the attention away from the whole car as mentioned. I want it to be suttle, but yet add to the appearance.

The next thing I plan on doing is taking the center caps (getting a spare set) and making them totally chrome with the Pontiac arrow in the center.

Would someone be willing to photo shop these changes?

If you want it to be subtle don't go with red, with the black theme on your car the red calipers would just jump out at you.
I'd say the steel colored option would be the best - IMO.

How clean are you going to keep those calipers?
Are you going to drive it in the wet?

Black will stay black no matter what.

Red will turn darker but still maintain a reddish hue.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing with a GXP upgrade, was going to go with the factory red, but I like to color match, my car is white. With black I'm with some others, a Gray or gun metel would look HOT!!

No, steel or cast grey looks cool not hot.

Red looks and IS hot!


Matt, pink might look good on you. It looks good on your girls, and it will turn heads.

A little playing in paint to see what it would look like.

Tone down the red a bit. It won't look that bright.

My vote is still red but if you don't want to highlight them, go with gloss black.

I think red is fine, after all it is a Pontiac. Maybe a slightly darker, less in your face red.
