So my mom got me spark plugs and wires for christmas since I needed them. Now I asked for her to get me Autolite Copper Core spark plugs (Andrew recommended me to get them) and Belden Premium wires. When she went out to autozone to get the plugs but the salesman had her get a different kind. Instead of getting Autolite Copper Core's she got Autolite Double Platinum spark plugs. She forgets exactly what the salesman said but he was saying he didn't think the Copper Core's were good for me and recommended these. My mom being my mom figure he knows what he is talking about and plus the Double Platinum was more money so it had to be better.

My question is are these spark plugs any good? Should I return to get the Copper Core's or are these really good?

IIRC, the Autolite platinum plugs won't be an issue. It just means you won't have to change them for ~60k miles. Yeah, there's some difference in voltages, but not enough where you're going to notice a difference in fuel economy or drivability.

I'm sure someone else will graciously correct me if I am mistaken.

They'll work. I like copper cores cause I tend to pull my plugs every year to check the running condition in my engine. Well in the Buick, anyway. I'd do it in my truck too except I have to remove the front wheels to get to them.

Other than that, I have noticed no difference between copper and platinum spark plugs in daily driving. Autolite makes a good plug.

You'll be fine. But if you were supercharged, you wouldn't want to run them. Platinum is bad news in the L67.

Alright cool, I didn't know if they were or weren't so I figured I'd ask. This car has been back and forth with me on expenses and I am trying to get everything right and treat it good so it is reliable and non-problems lol.

What should it be gapped at?

Bone stock, run .060" (which is the stock gap). They should be close to that out of the box, but it's best to check/gap anyway.

If they're the ones I'm thinking of they have 2 electrodes? There is no gap on those. If it is the standard plug, like Bill said, it should be .060. I always check mine, as rattling around in the box, etc. can change the gap. I had to re-gap all of my plugs when I installed them.

I have read in a few places that platinmus are bad for supercharged motors.Why?They came with platinum plugs from the factory.Just wondering Thanks Dave

Wrong, they had iridium plugs stock. Platinum becomes a heat sink with the high combustion temps that come with boost, causing knock, and damage. Stock L67: Iridium is fine, Modded L67: Proper Heat Range Copper Core plugs are a must.

And any Bosch brand plug suffers from rapid electrode depletion and early failure in our cars due to our waste-spark ignition system (each plug fires twice per rotation, not just on the combustion stroke, but also on the exhaust stroke).

Stock L67: Iridium is fine, Modded L67: Proper Heat Range Copper Core plugs are a must.

Iridium is fine with modded L67's. Just more expensive than copper but last longer. Not recommended only due to cost because when you mod you usually change heat ranges progressively.

I have always run with Iridiums.

Ok so keep the platniums right? Guy told my mom I can always return/exchange if I wanted to.
