P1404 EGR Code

I've been getting the 1404 code for about 6 months. At first I took the EGR Valve off. It didn't look too gummed up and the pintle moved freely. I followed the instructions from a post and cleaned everything up, checked the tube to the exhaust manifold and checked/cleaned the electrical connections. That lasted about two weeks and I got the 1404 code again. This time I just decided to replace the EGR Valve. That lasted about a month and it tripped the 1404 code again. I've been really busy with work and moving to a new house, so I finally have time again to look at this.

The car runs completely fine. I read in another post about checking the continuity - I have a digital multi-meter, but other than the basics, I don't know too much about electrical. Can someone tell me how to check the continuity? Is there something else that I missed and should be looking at? I did read in a post that a maf sensor caused the code for one person, but I don't want to throw a maf sensor at it and just hope it works.

Thanks to anyone who helps out!

I wouldn't want to replace a MAF sensor either on a hunch. I would suggest cleaning it though. The procedure can be found at this link posted by another member:

Beside the EGR and MAF, the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, Throttle Position (TP) sensor can be suspects. It is strange that it was fixed for a while though.

Can't help with the testing of the EGR. G'luck.
