Is the resistor chip able to be removed.
I have bought two keys now off ebay,, first one was my fault,, read ohms wrong,, this new key has right chip, had it cut today and they didnt cut it right, and i dont think its saveable.
can i take chip from new key and put it in first key?
Thanks

Re: Key resistor chip
correctly measure the OHMS on the key then under the dash running against the steering column is a orange tube with two tiny white wires in it i believe 22 gauge wires. cut these wires in two and on the body side of the wires add a resistor equal to or +or - 5% this will effectively eliminate the VATS security system on your car.
P.S. i worked at circuit city for 2 years as an installer and this is how all pilled keyed cars got bypassed for remote starts so have fun

I bypassed my VATS after reading the key's Ohm value. Found the resistors at Radio Shack. Five for a buck! 10 minutes later, no annoying "security" lockouts.tan96ssei wrote:correctly measure the OHMS on the key then under the dash running against the steering column is a orange tube with two tiny white wires in it i believe 22 gauge wires. cut these wires in two and on the body side of the wires add a resistor equal to or +or - 5% this will effectively eliminate the VATS security system on your car.
