finding trouble cdes in 99 eldorodo

My aunt lives in NC and can't get her car inspected cause her check engine light is on. I need to know how to jump her test conector to retreave the code. A diagram would be nice too if it's not to much to ask.

You cant jumper the connector in the newer cars, you need to use a code reader. Autozone or similar parts store should be able to do it for free.

they couldn't give her the code, only a mechanic can get them in her state. Atleast thats what they told her

I just called an Autozone in Charlotte NC and they said they were able to scan CEL's for free.
