Do I take out the whole T. Any other grinding need to be done before polishing other than removeing the T. I'm going to try this and I'm not a pro or anything, so any advice will help. I think I will be OK, if it's as easy as it looks.
I figure I can save 150-$200 to try this myself, then i can spend that $$ on a mod I can't do(maybe rockers or PLOG+PCM). Is doing this going to be as good as a ZZP TB.
Try this for now ,if I succeed, maybe LIM later.

not doubting your abilities at all by any means.. but i would suggest doing an exchange for an expertly done one. less headache and you know its done right.. and you also dont have to risk messing it up..
just my 2 cents..
but if you have a few laying around.. by all means give it a try..

Pretty much just like this shows right. This was for L67, but I get it.smooth out the edges left from cutting out the T, then buff. Am I missing anything?

You should start off with a L67 TB first IMO to get the larger TB bore.
Here is what I did to mine.
Keep in mind you're going to have to tune upon install since the MAF will be reading the incoming air differently.
gmtuners.com can do that for you.

I agree you're starting with the wrong TB. I've ported a couple by that method and I can tell you that you'll likely run into MAF calibration issues. Besides, the post isn't as much of a restriction as you might think. The primary restriction is the throttle plate/bore.
This is also somewhat of a case of putting the cart before the horse. Without valvetrain mods to increase flow, this isn't going to net you what you think it might.

so it may be a waste of time to mess with l36 TB. the L67 seems like a lot more work. I don't have a lot of money and I was hopeing to do A free mod here.

You're just not going to get what you want out of it without tuning and supporting mods. I'd say put this on the back burner for awhile, then you can source a spare to begin working on. It'll be ready when you and your car are.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but would I benefit from a bored TB? I always considered it a mod not worth the investment so I never put much thought into it.

You are right, I will wait untill I have my pcm tuned. In the meantime I will get a used one and work on it. Does the zzp TB have a larger butterfly than the stock. I notice it says bored from 65mm to 68mm. That is probably achieved by using sand paper around the entire inside.
Here is one on porting the l36 TB once I do do it.

I sure wish I could afford rockers.

I can assure you that nobody modifies TB's with sandpaper.
