Today, my uncle and I changed the transmission fluid for (I believe) the 1st time on my car. Hopefully the high mileage fluid and the Lucas Oil 'Stop Slip' makes a big difference. Gear changes seemed a wee bit more rough than usual today.

Jump Started my car! New Battery 1yr old... but seat belt lite stays on so trouble shooting.. joy joy! On a GREAT NOTE. I ordered a Sunroof Switch from ebay thanks to the help of this forum! :D

Doing my best to destroy the headlights....they were in bad shape anyway, but I used Duplicolors plastic primer, and I'm in a whole lot of trouble....crackled paint and I've had to bring out the palm sander and 220 grit sand paper to get it all cleaned off. I may have to consider finding another set of headlights and NOT USE THE PLASTIC PRIMER!

I put hid's in the GTO today. Now I can see.

I FOUND OUT THE DAMAGE COST MEANS THEY WANT TO WRITE IT OFF! HELP!

A bit late but the other day I changed plugs and wires on the GTO and then also changed the trans fluid. It looked and smelled to be the original fluid, and holy crap it shifts so much better.

Replaced the drivers side, rear door, power window motor on the Suburban last week.

Again (as back in the day), I don't understand the need to rivet the regulators and motors... Just use good, strong bolts/locknuts.

Back story, about 2 weeks prior, cruising home from work, I smell something burning. I quickly dismissed it because I was cruising through "scenic" (read that as "ethnically diverse") portions of Elgin, IL and I just figured someone's house or car was on fire. A few minutes later, an Elgin fire truck went screaming by, so I just went on my merry way. I get home, go to put that window up... And nothing! WTF! I go to the rear door itself and try closing it with that switch. That's when I caught an awesome whiff of it... That burning I was smelling... Was me! So in about 30 seconds, I had the door torn apart but no tell-tale fire. I use the back of my middle finger to touch the motor... It was so hot it instantly burned and left a blister. Now I touch hot engines, exhaust pipes etc, and have zero issues, this thing burned that deeply and that fast with just a glancing blow from the finger... So needless to say, the motor was fried.

I figure my switch on the drivers front door, which had been acting up recently, shorted out once I put the window down leaving work, keeping 12v going to it the entire 20 minutes home.

So I also replaced all switches on that side just for safety's sake.

My 1975 Monte Carlo also used rivets.
I guess it was quicker and faster do to it that way.

They all are riveted. It may make it easier to assemble, but then more difficult to R&R when they inevitably fail, costing more in warranty costs than the $.10 was worth saving on the assembly line.

At least my regulator on the GMT400 is still a scissor type. GMT800's and up, as well as many other GM vehicles use a cable/pulley/guide setup which is a PITA to reassemble in a door.

My uncle and I took apart the entire interior of the car due to a sunroof leak on the driver's side (again). Apparently, just zip tying the two tubes together didn't hold it enough. This time, we super glued the connection together, taped it with electrical tape, and then zip tied the connection again. Hopefully this holds, although it is getting much easier to take everything out of the interior (except for the dashboard).

I got the windows tinted on the GTO. 35% up front and 20% in back.

Not my car:

Engine swapped a motor with low oil pressure only to find the 'new' motor had a cracked head and intake valve leaks causing low compression on all three cylinders. So I'm replacing that head this weekend.

Wife's car:
Intake arrived, as well as new bulbs (D1S and HIR) for the headlights. Going to change those out this weekend.

My car:
Turn signal bulb in the front went out again, this is the third time in less than a month. No fishbowl, no corroded or burnt contacts in the socket. Also looks like I get to do brakes on it already, the front left pad is down to the wear bar and the rotor looks like it's covered in surface cracking. Might have to be a weekend project on that one too.

Got a rotation for the first time in 4 years. Apparently I put this off for a bit; but the (former) front tires still have decent tread on them to last quite a while.

Replaced my tail light bulbs with some normal incandescents, put some LEDs in the corner markers.

Sadly, it's that time of year again. I picked up my winter car and started to getting the summer toys/rides ready for winter storage. Today I washed and clay barred the STS in addition to replacing the interior driver's door handle assembly (peeling fake chrome). I would have waxed it as well, only I found out I had none left at 10 PM with nobody open that sells the type I use. Guess that's a tomorrow thing... There's a few other things I'm going to do. I'm starting on the Bonneville tomorrow as well. There's a long list of things its getting.

I've been a little busier than expected the last couple of weeks so I just finished the last touches on the STS tonight. In the morning, it goes into storage.

I've washed, clay barred and waxed the paint. I've also detailed under the hood, the interior, cleaned all the glass and cleaned/conditioned the rubber seals and weather strip. All the wheels were removed, washed and waxed. I cleaned all the surface corrosion from the face of the wheel hubs along with the wheels themselves. The cabin air filter was changed (engine filter was fine). Lastly, it's had a fresh oil and filter change. I've got a list in hand of a few items needing attention in the spring. Otherwise, it's all done for the year. I'll stop and get fuel in the morning and add a bottle of fuel stabilizer.

Tomorrow afternoon I get started on a lengthy list of Bonneville tasks. It's going to be a lot more work.

This weekend I drove my truck for the first time in several years. That was fun.
