Does anyone know if the 92-99 Front control arms are the same? It turns out there is a roughly 3-4" hole in my driver side control arm...

I've never swapped parts, but they should be.

Starting to look like you need a full donor subframe/suspension.

I really wish you wouldn't have said that... Most of the wear items in the suspension I have replacements for. I am really hoping that the subframe drop goes better than most of the other stuff on the car, but I have a feeling that it was dropped for the transmission rebuild about 3 years ago. Although I wish i knew this before I cut the control arms apart on the SLE parts car.

You can use all of your new parts on the donor subframe. The only parts that won't interchange are the components of the struts. As long as you swap a complete strut then it won't be an issue. If you need new springs, mounting components, they have to match the struts you have. Brakes stay with the knuckle as well.

Any progress to speak of on this rebuild?

I'm sad to admit it but I haven't really had much progress over the past few months due to personal issues. For those who saw me during the Bonneville Meet last summer, It was a bit of a calm before the storm. A couple of months later with the gentle nudging of a couple of my friends, I gained the strength to go deal with the issues that i had been facing. The worst part for me has been that the car was the main victim of my issues, due to the fact that the story that makes the car important to me also has roots in the issues that brought me to that point.

I appreciate that there are still people still paying attention to this even though i have been very sporadic with my updates, but there shall be many updates to come soon!

Yea I hadn't seen any updates in awhile so figured if check up on it since no updates doesn't always mean no progress. But you always need to put yourself first and I'm glad to hear you're successfully addressing some personal issues. I'll stay tuned and hopefully you can get back to making some progress soon. I just need to get some pictures together, but there has been a bit of progress over the past few months. The front end is 95% together and the last part of the front may be rigged for 1 drive. There has been a couple of developments that should start taking the project where I have wanted it to go.

Good to hear that there has been progress. Any chance you're going to make it to the meet this year?

That's my goal, the new gas tank is going in if the straps quit fighting.

All the aftermarket straps are too short, and not bent quite right either, at least with all the H-body stuff I have done so far. You'll want to get longer bolts (fully threaded of course) to help with that, and probably need new caged nuts if they are rusty.

Matt - the caged nuts failed.. They had to be cut out.
Nick - this may be the cars only trip out this year. There is finally a series 2 swap in the works. (not an l67 though)

If its not an L67 hopefully there are plans for a turbo. A series II swap doesn't seem like it would be worth the effort unless there's forced induction of some sort involved.
