More work going on with Gravenge. Kathy was complaining the defrost was not working well at all and she could hardly see. Before I could get a chance to look at it, the heater core decided to spring a leak. So, with a floor full of coolant, we worked together and got it changed. No pictures, but a lot of swear words came out.

About 2 weeks later she calls me to tell me she had a flat on the highway and had to change her own tire. I am proud of her being able to do it herself. She did complain about all the people who just drove by and did not offer to help. Before she came home, she decided to go to breakfast with her friends. By the time they got out of Ihop, it was flat again.

I had her sister pick her up and we threw the jack in my truck and grabbed the Chicken's spare. Of course it was low and almost flat........................but, we have a handy compressor under the hood. Got to the tire shop and there wasn't even 2 tires good enough to wait 2 weeks and do 2 at a time, so we ended up putting 4 new ones on it. I knew it would need them when I bought it. John did point it out to me that the tires were old.

Slowly but surely, she is becoming an awesome car again.

She is just lucky we are here to help her. She has to have a car to get to work and she is paying me back. We have a list of things to do yet and 1 at a time they are getting done.

The other day she was complaining her side bolsters were not inflating and her seat felt weird without them. We could hear the compressor running and I asked her if she connected the airline after putting the seat back in after the heater core work. I looked and sure enough, it wasn't connected.

I know there is a lot of life left in this car and now that she loves spending time with me and working on it. I actually enjoy it too.

Since Paul reminded me I shall update this.

Gravenge was sold back in June. Kathy lost her job. She was doing cleaning in newly constructed homes and they were downsizing.

In the meantime, she was backing out of a friends drive and missed the edge and had one wheel in the ditch and got stuck. Instead of the tow truck driver using the boom to lift the car out and over, he just winched it using the sub frame as the pulling point.

After that it ate the front tire rapidly. Took it in to have the alignment shop check it out and they set it the best they could. The steering wheel was never straight after that and it pulled hard to the right.

About a month after that, she was at a friends apartment complex and it got backed into on the right side tail light. An uninsured guy with his tailgate down. The cops were called, but as usual, we had to bite the bullit.

I did what I could to get a light in and made a drain hole in the trunk since I knew it would let water in. Here is a picture of the repair.

I posted it on Craigslist and got called the same day. I had to leave for work and the people hurried over to look at it. At first I thought there was no way they would be interested. They showed up in a 7 series BMW.

After the test drive and talking with the couple, I got the whole story:

They were brother and sister and she was going through a bad divorce. Her husband took off and left her and her 2 boys with a mortgage, 2 car payments and everything and she was a stay at home mom with no income. She was living with her brother and his family and had a job lined up with no transportation. He was loaning her the money to buy it until she could get her life on track.

So, there's the rest of the story. We now move on to the 2001 we are working on. Kathy has since moved out and rents a house with a couple friends and is doing well. She is getting ready to start school soon at the local community college. As usual, she doesn't know what she wants to major in.

Sorry about having to let "Gravenge" go to a "new" home, but sometimes it's the best thing to do. Glad Kathy is back in school. Becky and I always tell the kids and grandkids (like I haven't posted it before - lol) "Reach for the stars and live your dream." - BC

Too bad you had to get rid of it, but at least it went to help someone in need, I'm glad to hear Kathy is back on her feet, as well!!!

Too bad Gravenge had to go, but hopefully it went to caring owners.

I feel her pain on the major though, second semester sophomore year and I still don't know what I wanna do. Just have a lot of ideas.
