Re: What did you do to your car today?
Today was gonna be the day I put insurance back on the 04 and bring it out. NOPE! I had new sway bar bushings and I went to install those and the front ones are way too big. Did the rears as those were correct, but I opened a can of worms by doing that. Not from the bushings but because of a wheel stud that had been stripped on the rear so I decided to replace that, which meant removing the brake upon which I did the one brake pad came off in two pieces. So I ordered new rear pads and rotors and now it's all apart waiting for more parts.

Installed a sway bar from a GXP and a new dimmer switch to stop the random flashing of my lights. Tomorrow onto the coil packs and finish sanding/buffing my headlamps.

Re: What did you do to your car today?
Did a lot of stuff today. Changed the oil on the Saab, changed the oil on the Camaro, and I finally fixed the trans mount on it again:

Don't worry, it's a temporary fix while I source a parts car for the inevitable 6-speed swap. Better than the C-clamp I found there when I bought it. I guess now I fit in with the F-body peoples.
Other things include replacing the thermostat on the '89 (and I didn't break the thermostat cover!) that turned into pulling the valve cover to fix the PCV tube seal and replacing some rotted vac lines. Then I got the garage cleaned up from all the winter maintenance.

Do I dare ask how a C-Clamp worked??
Anyway, did 100,000 mile servicing on the Impala today. Well technically 101k since I did it last at 98k. Next step will be plugs, wires, and a cooling system flush.

Re: What did you do to your car today?
The tail housing on this trans, the one bolt broke off in the housing. So there is only one bolt holding the trans to the mount. The C-clamp was doing something for that I think. I've gone through two mounts myself now. It's annoying because I welded a bracket to the upper mount steel piece that goes to a bolt boss on the side of the trans case to make up for the un-useable boss (twice...). *shoot* aftermarket parts that can't hold down the power of a stock 3800 or ratchet strap? Yeah, whatever it takes.

This probably is the most boring thing in this thread, but I got my first drivers license with it! It hasn't passed inspection until now and last time I took the test, a coolant hose came unclamped just short of finishing the test.

Re: What did you do to your car today?
Today I finished up the 04 with the exception of drilling slots into the struts for alignment purposes. I also discovered that the wheel bearing on the front is bad.
This is especially bad because of the longer studs to fit the brembos. Some aftermarket hubs have different knurl sizes so this will complicate things even more. At this rate I'm never gonna be able to drive it this year. Another week of driving the beater.

Re: What did you do to your car today?
my ac compressor went yesterday, so i decided to go to a scrap yard to look for the part.
and in hamilton it is RARE to find a bonneville in a scrap yard.
today i found one.
this bonneville had a ton of new parts put into it (including an ac compressor) so i picked that up for 45$ cad.
saved myself alot of money with this find.
cant wait to buy more.

I watched metal particles draining out of my transmission case
I have two new trophies a worn-out fourth gear shaft and a worn-out oil pump shaft
I refuse to keep the fragged torque converter.
I also terminated connections for the new harness to the Pioneer head unit

Re: What did you do to your car today?
I built a sealed stealth 10" subwoofer box for my Camaro, then built an amp rack, and bolted it all in and wired it up. It sounds a lot better now, previously all it had were the tiny front door and rear pillar speakers and I'd added rear deck speakers as part of the interior swap, nothing appreciable below the 500hz level of sound. Now that I have the sub in I ended up disconnecting the rear pillar speakers, they were supposed to be some sort of 6" subwoofer but they were trashed. The rest of the speakers are some nicer Polk speakers that are being driven by a stock 7-band EQ head unit. Overall the sound quality is much better now.

Re: What did you do to your car today?
Friday evening, figuring I was going to be down at my other house working, I checked the forecast for the next week and half, figuring that we're past accumulating snows since we nearly into April, and there was nothing on there. So on Saturday I turned down my torsion bars and took the plow receivers off.
Then last night, got back on Intellicast, checked again, and ;safd;dafhnkdsf, wouldn't you have it, next Monday 3 - 5 inches, and Tuesday 1 - 3.
Now it's back to nothing next Monday, but still maddening nonetheless.
