3.3", ported SC, ceramic coated P-log, 3" exhaust to IMCO F-body HF replacement muffler, UD WP pulley, ZZP PCM, autolite 104's (.053"), Belden MAX 8MM wires, 180* t-stat, ceramic coated rear PEM, ported TB, P&P LIM, Intense FWI, MAF screen delete, and a couple other minor things I can't think of right now... was done over a year ago with the last motor in my car. Outside temps were around 35* IIRC (early March last year), and there was no wind.
With my current setup 3" exhaust to 2.5" in/dual 2.5" outlets IMCO F-body OEM replacement muffler, 3.8" SC pulley, UD WP pulley, FWI, 180*, autolite 104's (.055"), Belden 8MM max wires, and again one or two other small items I can't recall off the top of my head, the 99 has seen 142 mph once (on private road) and again I took my cousin who wanted to see what it felt like to his mildly modded GTP, we saw 135 before he said he believed the car was capable of 140 mph with it's stock pulley.

^^^^ what was the barometric pressure???
i went 170ish on the bottle in my mustang. the speedometer only read to 160 but that needle was pointing straight down... i ran out of gears. i was amazed at how stable it was at those speeds. i only had the ssei up to about 110. i had z rated tires on it but it still felt quite light on its feet. never had the urge to go any faster.

122 in the 94 Ei...tried to hit the limiter a couple times but it was slow to get there and I ran out available space to keep going.
I hit the limiter (128) in the 03.
Both felt very stable, though the 03 reached it's max much quicker (of course). It had so much more in it when I hit the limiter. :(
I look at my tires now and I wouldn't dream of driving those speeds anytime soon. I have no intentions of driving that fast again until I get: A. new tires, and B. a new tranny

108 on a county road in AR that I paved the day before. The best part about being an asphalt paving foreman for a company that only does runways and interstates. test riding the finished surface with my car

also did a 105 run on a 10,000 foot runway at Memphis International..... smoooooooth as silk.

When I got the engine replaced in my 1992 SE,the shop that ruined my original engine gave me a 90 day warranty,so,,,I took it out on a road we call the booneville flatts, straight flat stretch of road that is 6 miles long and empty most of the time.I got this car to go 115 before I backed off,it was starting to become unstable.I was amazed at the strength of this engine. It may actually be better than my original engine, time will tell. When i first got the SSEi i took it out on a very rural stretch of I-88 out by Sycamore/Dekalb and hit what the speedometer said was 132mph with just a FWI. Never again, im sure it would pull harder now but i see no point. Probably haven't gone over 105 since i got the Intense PCM with speed limiter removed over a year ago.

Just a coincidence that pretty much all of us who have had our cars above 150mph have no desire to do it again? Maybe there is a lesson to be learned from this thread...

So very true. I did that months ago I think last fall, and I don't think I've even been over 80 MPH on the highway since!

It can be scary.
Joel passed me one time in his Strauts on an old Highway east of Red Deer, so i signaled, sped up, got up to about 190kph, went around him, and stayed on it till 240 or so, WOW, he called me after i slowed down and he caught up...he says, i was going 170, and you were gone.
I havent done it since.
in a conrolled enviroment, sure, but a highway..no..to much room for error

Very true. I have been up over 100 three times since the high speed run. These day's I'm typically in a rush when you see me going 7-9 mph over the speed limit.
I have no desire to break 100 again..... until I hit the drag strip, but I doubt it'll happen.... before next year anyhow.

150 on public roads that you don't have control over is tough. If you've got a huge flat and you're in BFE it's not bad, but there's still animals, road kill, litter, etc to mess you up. Also most street cars don't have the Aero for this. My GTI has a dimpled underbody tray, and a pretty slippery profile, but the rear end is pretty lively for a FWD car, I haven't had mine above 100 really yet. OE all seasons don't help the situation anyways.
I would love to try it out @ a max speed event on a runway or closed course/road.
willwren wrote:Paul's post above is based on GEARING, but doesn't take into account aero drag, or all the other smaller factors. Paul's car in actuality is in the 160/170mph range.
I'd venture 160ish at best. Aero isn't really on his side compared to some cars, and He's prob not doing 400 HP on a Gen V, rockers, and headers back exhaust. Impossible to know though until he goes and maxes out.....
