glad that all ended well and that the officer advised you not to meet them again. plus you would have waisted another $100 on gas. next time when things do not seem right and you are caught with unpleasant company in the back yard, just tell them you need to prepare your truck for towing and then just drive off :beerchug:

No way. The last time Andrew and I were drinking together, I was licking up spilled beer from the table, and hijacking Gordy's truck.

Where's the problem?

Glad to see it got squared away for you Andrew. I'm guessing you won't need to be involved much in the legal proceedings around the car either, although the guys that sold it most likely will be.

Congrats! i can't believe it went so quickly. If the guys you bought it from were honest enough to pay you back, why didn't they turn the car in themselves? They must be going "Oh *shoot*, we're really in trouble this time."

I'm sure they believed the story they were sold and wanted to make some $$$ Trent. I guarantee a license or something was on the line for them if they didn't pay up.

Nothing was on the line for them, just honest people. Maybe they were like me, didn't want to believe it was stolen... and never checked into it.

Yeah, it's a scary situation when you get into something like that. I see so many cars on craigslist for dirt cheap with a "lost or no title". Makes me nervous because either the car has been reported stolen, or it was stolen and hasn't be reported yet. Or it really has no title (IE abandoned at a house, rental property, etc.)

And not only that, but the sellers on craigslist like to play the "Oh, all you have to do is file for a lost title" thing. You then find out that it will take MONTHS to get one because it is discovered that it's in probate or wrongfully removed from a property, or when you file you get the surprise that it comes up in the system as stolen.

More good news on this. The sheriff was over again today for some more paperwork on the SSEi that was totalled. He mentioned that the SSEi that I had hauled to the impound lot had been picked up by the insurance company, but they left the bumper cover. He said I was free to grab it. I zipped right over there and grabbed it. So, in the end, I came out ahead, with a $200+ bumper cover.

Glad to hear it's all over with for you, and that you received all your money back and then some. :thumbleft:

Well this car went to auction today. Sold for $1250.... to me.

The reason I went higher than I paid the first time, is that it has a clear title now, and since I was originally told the mileage is around 100k, I should be able to put the front bumper back on (which I still have), fix the ignition area, put a different exhaust (one with a cat) and sell it as a good working car.

Someone did jack the center caps off it though.

Just when I keep thinking the story is over, it continues. It's pretty cool you ended up with it after all.

Swapped the clusters around to see what kind of mileage it REALLY had.

160k

Definately not the 100k I was told, but at least its not 220k.
